Title: What God Remembers

(34) What God Remembers

(Heb 6:9-12)

Verse 10 of today's text tells us about two things that God remembers about our actions. He said that he did not forget “serving the saints with love and serving them now.” We are people who live by God's infinite mercy and grace.

1. God's mercy in two ways

God's mercy is manifested in two ways. One is to wash away all our unrighteousness with the blood of Christ. Even after we are saved, we cannot live beyond sin. But even if we sin, the fact that God continues to forgive our sins is a wonderful grace.

Next, God forgives our sins and makes them disappear from his memory, but he always remembers all the righteousness we do. It is also a wonderful grace to say that, just as a merchant puts the cost of credit on the account book, he remembers every single thing to reward us for everything we do.

So, is God equally merciful to all people? no. God's thoughts on all those who disobey and betray Him are not love, but His justice.

Verse 10 says, “God is not unrighteous and remembers your deeds. So, what kind of actions does God really remember? Our actions point to the fruit of our faith. We are saved by faith, but our blessings and our heavenly reward come through works. Christian works are the fruits of obedience to the Word. Belief and action cannot be considered separately. By believing the Word of God, we obey it. The result of that obedience is action.

Christians have another fruit. In Proverbs 12:14, it says, “A man is satisfied with the fruit of his mouth, and he receives according to the works of his hands.” The fruit of the lips can also be the fruit of a reward. We do not know how often God's blessings are lost because of our fair lips. Christians must have lips of faith. It is the lips that confess with the mouth.

The poet of our lips also follows our salvation. Romans 10 says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Noah,' he says.

2. What God Remembers

God said that He remembers the love shown for His name. Love manifests it outwardly, and it has life. The love that we have in our heart but cannot express outwardly cannot receive God's approval. Love has value when it is expressed in its fruit. However, there are things that we need to be extremely careful about and keep in mind when we show this love. It means to appear ‘for his name’. It's not in your own name, or your compassion, or your own mercy. The biblical lesson is to always show love for the name of the Lord.

What, then, is love expressed in the name of the Lord? It is a love given to others in gratitude for the grace and love that God has given to them. Love should be a love that is given in secret. If you blow the trumpet for what you have done, you will not receive a reward from God. Because God doesn't remember. Love is not something that can be conveyed just by giving material things to the other person. It is said that covering up faults is also love. Forgiveness of sins is a greater love. The fruits of love must follow the truth and contain sincerity.

God said that He will remember our service to the saints. All people are stingy when it comes to serving others, and they enjoy being served. But we must remember what the Lord has said. He said, “Whoever wants to be first must become a servant of others.”

To serve means to take care of the saints first. It is to comfort and help when we are in trouble, when we have no food, when we are sick and lonely. The next service is to lead the saints correctly according to the word of truth. There must always be a loving care that spiritually cares for us so that we do not stray astray.

In this way, we should think of God who remembers all the deeds for God, have hope in these things, and all the saints should be diligent and not lazy.

Conclusion: God not only remembers our deeds, but also remembers the covenant God made to us, and He blesses us according to that covenant. How many things have we really done that will be remembered by God? We should know that the more our deeds are remembered by God, the more abundant blessings and rewards from God.
