Sermons for Preaching

Title: What keeps you from moving forward

No matter how great and good ideas, movements, and advances in the world were never without obstacles. There were many obstacles in the progress of the nation of Israel. In today's message, Israel, who conquered Jericho, fell into a great setback. Because of Achan's transition.

Barriers to our individual or community progress are the greatest obstacles to our relationship with God more than anything else. In short, it is a sin problem.

I. Desire for material things blocks progress.

- 6:12 We read, “All that was in the city was to be fully dedicated… .. and . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . “”

- He conquered the city of Jericho, but gave it completely to God and did not allow it to occupy anything. He also forbade the rebuilding of the city of Jericho. 6:26 Let's read. Let us see the wrath of God against disobedience. Read 1 Kings 16:34. What does it mean? thorough obedience

- Why did you lose the conquest of Ai Castle? Let's read verse 11. “… They broke my covenant, which I commanded them, and they took and robbed the things they had fully dedicated. ”

- Achan's greed: He valued his own greed more than God and the community.

Ex) - Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)

- A young man with wealth (Matthew 19:16-22)

- Jacob's failure at Succoth (Genesis 33:17-34:31)

- What did God call a thief? “They have broken my covenant, which I commanded, and they take and steal things that have been dedicated” (11)

- Have we not stolen anything from God?

Ex) Wesley. “You cannot believe your repentance until your pockets repent”

- If you get caught up in the lust for water and take possession of what is to be returned to God, neither yourself nor your community will progress.

II. Pride blocks progress.

1. Pride leads to disobedience. Pride makes disobedience as much as pride.

2. Pride causes slander. Num 12:8 Miriam contracted leprosy while slandering Moses. 12:15 Let's read.

- Israel was wandering in the wilderness for 40 years after complaining about God and against Moses, the leader.

- Pride blocks progress. impede the progress of oneself and the community;

. No vision (dream) blocks progress.

- Luke 9:33 “… Lord, it is good that we are here...”

How long will we keep repeating “this is good”?

- If you don't have a dream, you think of snacking as the supreme happiness. Such a person or group of people cannot advance because of the idea and eventually become a loser.

Saints, what should we do to advance? 12-13 Let's read.

① Find the sin and get rid of it.

② Sanctify yourself.

Let's keep moving forward and live a 'life with tomorrow' hard.
