Title: What kind of teacher was Jesus?
1. Introduction
In the Gospels, people at the time of Jesus called Jesus the Son of God, the Christ, the Lord, the descendants of David, a rabbi, and a teacher. Among these, it is thought that the most common title for Jesus was Teacher (Matthew 7:28-29, 12:38, 17:24, 19:16, 22:16; Luke 5:5, 8:49, 10:25, 17:13, 18:18, 19:39, 20:21, 20:28, 22:11, etc.).
2. Jesus is the visiting teacher
What is the difference between John the Baptist and Jesus? What I feel when I think about it is that if John the Baptist stayed in the Jordan River in the wilderness and said, <Come to the Jordan River in the wilderness!>, Jesus said, <He went to the Sea of Galilee, to Jericho, to Capernaum!>. Those who earn and eat every day wanted to go to the Jordan River in the wilderness, but they could not. Therefore, Jesus was a teacher who went to the field of their lives.
Today, our church says, <visit> rather than <visit>. I feel that it is far from the field of life of the church school students and the church. Church education is all that is done for one or two hours a day on a Sunday. It is also extremely dishonest.
I will do my best to become a teacher who visits the field of life of the students I am entrusted with, by phone call, letter, and prayer, following the example of Jesus visiting.
3. Jesus is the teacher who created a small community of creative minorities
Jesus was not a mass-producer of disciples. Jesus is a teacher who cares deeply about the least of the people, the small community. Jesus raised 3 disciples, 12 disciples and 70 disciples. Jesus is the teacher who raised a small community as a creative minority.
See Matthew 19:28. “I tell you the truth, when the world is renewed and the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who follow me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” There is a saying that faith is <listening to the lark's song in the lark's egg>. Jesus was the Teacher who foresaw what this little community of disciples would do to reshape the world in the future.
4. Jesus is an original teacher
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is a wonderfully original teaching. What was the evaluation of those who heard the Sermon on the Mount? “I was amazed at his teaching,” he said. It was because he had authority to teach, and it was different from our ordinary teachers. The content, method, and perspective of the teaching were completely original and new. Jesus said, <I say this!>. He had a clear view of his own.
How are our teachers today? Isn't it just about reading a lesson book? Are you not working on solving the problems presented in advance in the lesson book? You must be an original teacher. I should try my best to become a teacher who looks at and teaches problems with more creative questions and fresh perspectives than those who made the textbook.
5. Jesus is the same teacher on the outside
In the text, two disciples of John the Baptist asked Jesus, “Who are you? What kind of person are you?> He says <Come and see!>. What is the meaning of these words?
No great man has little respect for his wife or close servants. Because they know inside and out how different the outside and inside of the great person are. Jesus said <Come and see!>. live with me and see me Look at my outside and inside!
How difficult is it to become a teacher who looks and feels the same? But nevertheless, I will do my best to become a teacher who is the same on the outside and inside.
6. Closing story
There is a saying 畵龍點睛 (畵點睛). A certain artist drew a dragon that looked like a living dragon, but was a blind dragon with no eyes. Why are there no dragon eyes? Hani said that if you draw dragon's eyeballs, this dragon will come alive and fly away. Still, what kind of dragon is the blind dragon? The artist asked me to draw the eyes of the dragon, and the moment he drew the dragon's eyeballs with plenty of ink, the dragon flew away with a rumble of thunder. It is said that the dragon's eyes made the dragon dragon.
What kind of dragon's eye could Jesus be such a great teacher? It was <continuous prayer to Heavenly Father> in the empty fields, at the seashore, in the mountains, in the garden, in the closet, at dawn, in the middle of the night. All teachers in the world! Make your point so that all of the teacher's talents can be saved.
