Title: What shall we do?
Serenity John is an important figure in history. He is a great figure in history that can be said to be a stepping stone between the Old and New Testaments, and is like a lamp that illuminates Jesus Christ.
About 400 years between the Old and New Testaments was like the Dark Ages. When the New Testament began, John the Serenade proclaimed the coming of Jesus and cried out in the wilderness to prepare the way. 'He must increase and I must decrease', calling for a rise and fall, he was executed at the king's request against Herodia's daughter's dance, and became a miserable martyr's sacrifice with his head placed on a platter, but the life of this celebrity John It can be said that it glorified the Lord and became a great example of our faith today.
The 16th century in the West is called the Dark Age, and the period without the cry of the prophets is the Dark Age. In each age, God appointed servants of the Lord to guide the people to lead a right life.
At that time, in a society that was politically, religiously, socially, and very complicated, John the Serenity cried out God's explosive words of repentance. He cried out in the wilderness, “You brood of vipers! Repent and bring forth the fruit worthy of repentance.” Many asked, “What shall we do?” Publicans and soldiers asked, “What shall we do?” They did not deny themselves, but obeyed positively, and asked the Lord's servant John the Prophet Serreh what they should do.
In verse 10, when the crowds asked, “Then what shall we do?” The Lord said, “Take care of your brothers.” It has the same meaning as the saying, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Also in Matthew 25, the Lord separates the flock from the sheep and praises the flock on the right. He said that he gave food when he was hungry, drink when he was thirsty, welcomed him when he was a stranger, put clothes on when he was naked, looked after him when he was sick, and visited him when he was in prison. The flock of the right sheep asked, “When did we do this?” The Lord said, “As you did it to one of the least of these four brothers, you did it to me.”
The little one refers first to the poor, and second, the servant of the Lord. He said that whatever you did for the most poor and lowly around us and what you did for your servants, you did for the Lord.
“What shall we do today?”
First, there are many things around us. Our church is also conducting various campaigns such as sharing rice of love.
Also, around us, there are many poor people on the occasion of the third generation. There are many broken-down families, or boy and girl heads of household, and the elderly who are marginalized. Therefore, taking care of them is a priority.
The Bible says that anyone who does not take care of his relatives, especially his own family, has betrayed the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Caring for a brother can be physical and material, but especially in a spiritual way, we need to look after our brother. This is our mission. He said that if you neglect your brother's spiritual problems and your brother's faith problems, you betray the faith and are worse than unbelievers. If there is a family who is not living the faith among the neighbors closest to you, you must lead them to the temple of the Lord as soon as possible. This is to look after your brothers.
Second, when tax collectors came to be baptized and said, “Teacher, what shall we do?” The Lord said, “Do not procrastinate except for the appointed time.” In the past and now, tax collectors hate and hate everyone. The Lord told these tax collectors to collect rational taxation, that is, legal taxation. In other words, do not love material things.
Third, the soldiers asked, “What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be violent, do not make people afraid, and be content with what you receive.” It means that you must clearly understand your position and refrain from violence. He also said that you should know that the amount you receive is sufficient, so you should not use your power as an excuse to take unfair advantage.
The Bible has more recommendations than taboos. If you look at 1 Thessalonians 5:16 and below, you will find the three major guidelines for the saints. “Always rejoice. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks.” It is not a negative form saying not to do it, but a positive form saying to do it this way. Christians are not passive and introverted. We must live a desirable life by actively facing forward, carrying the cross around our neck, and advancing the path of Golgotha Hill, which cannot be reached without blood and tears.
In 1 Corinthians chapter 4, the first verse says, “Let us ought to be counted as ministers of Christ, entrusters of the mystery of God. And what those who are entrusted with will ask for is loyalty.” Loyalty is the fulfillment of the Word of God in the heart. Also, like the nail that nailed the Lord to the cross, it is loyalty that feeds our mouths with gravel all the time. Loyalty is when mouth and heart, that is, words and thoughts, must agree. Those who are truly loyal do not lose their words. As we look back on this year, we need to reflect on how much loyalty we have and plan for the new year.
“What shall we do?” Our mission is not small.
One of the best-selling books these days is a book titled 'The Belly'. This is a book that contains philosophical ideas that are completely different from the humorous title, and there is this passage.
When the pig saw the cow, he said, “You make people happy with milk or yogurt or, at best, cheese, but don’t I provide people with bacon, ham, sausage, and sundae and even pork feet? But people treat you favorably and I treat you very harshly, so where is this injustice?”
Then the cow listened for a long time, and then answered. "Maybe it's because I think you do good things after you die, but when I'm alive, I please people?"
We work all our lives to make money. Then he said to his children, “After I make money and die, will I take it with me? This will all be yours.” In light of filial piety, the truth revealed in this fable is filial piety to one's parents while one is alive, not to ceremonies after death. It is useless to look for good food after death, no matter how good it is. Next time I will earn money and donate to the building. I'm going to make some money and give it all up. And I will do well in my tithing life. But now?
Don't do it now and don't make a promise for the future. We never know when we will leave the world. Tomorrow is not my day. Only this moment to come is my time.
This year, after receiving a report from the government of the statistics on the tithe offerings devoted by the members of the church, and knowing that the members of the church had unexpectedly donated a large number of precious tithes that only God knew, I sincerely prayed for thanks and blessings. May God bless you abundantly both physically and spiritually.
This is a story I heard from a saint. It is said that her husband burned the Bible many times because he was against believing in Jesus. So, once, while my husband was watching, he drank the ashes from the Bible book in water and gulped it down. So I'm going to hit you I ate something that didn't go down my throat by rubbing it with rice, and I cursed him for being a bad bitch. But later, my husband joined the church and became a deacon.
Even among our members, there is a case where the husband tore his bag and threw the Bible into the bathroom just because he was going to church. There was a tithe in the bible I put in the bathroom, so I took it out, washed it several times, and ironed it carefully before giving it to the Lord. It is said that he endured the difficult adversity, did not lose faith, obeyed God's word and continued to pray. Later, the husband also went to church, studied at the last sacrament meeting, and donated a million won to God as a gift.
"What shall I do?" I can't, I can't, I can't, let's not get discouraged. Whoops, I can't, I can't, give courage to those who say. What can't you do? You can do it all. God and the Holy Spirit in me.
According to our newsletter, “The Lord who helps me behind my back, when I am weary and weary on the road of my life and want to sit down, here I am, get up, and push me. give me new strength Help me.”
At the end of the year, the clergy struggle with zoning. It's because everyone says that they won't be able to become a district manager, a lecturer, or work. Both of you say, ‘I can’t be a teacher’ or ‘Please remove the choir’.
Let's read Proverbs 14:4. “If there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but there is much to gain from the strength of oxen.” If you do not hold an office and do not work, you are clean. But there is no prize. We are saved by faith and rewarded by our works. “What shall I do?” If you do not work, you are quiet and comfortable, but you do not gain anything.
When you buy clothes and shoes for children, they play harshly and soon become muddy and torn. That's why I often tell my children, "Hey, this is Prosfax, it's Lekaf, this is 30,000 won, but the heel went out within a week of buying it. These pants are still Joda, but the crotch has a hole in it less than ten days after I bought it. Why are you so hectic? Don't be a little rude, look polite!"
But in terms of politeness, the invoice is the most polite. Even if you wear it all year round, it is just the same.
