Title: What the Lord Does in Us

Text: John 4:10-26

Date : 2007. 10. 21. Sunday Day Worship

First, it satisfies our thirst.

Second, He heals our wounds and shame.

So how do you know if you are healed? The woman denied that she had a husband (v. 17). Covering and hiding is because it has not yet been healed. They hide it because it is painful and shameful. “You are right in saying that you have no husband. You are true because you had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband” (verses 17-18). On behalf of the woman, Jesus revealed what she was ashamed of. This is a method of healing and at the same time a proof of healing. Healing can be revealed. Because I am no longer ashamed or in pain. The most practical healing is “transformed.” When a sinner is justified, we can tell when he was a sinner. When the unhappiness disappears and you become happy, you can tell when you were unhappy. If a shameful past has been turned into a glorious present, we can tell a story of a shameful past. There is no perfect cure. There is bound to be some degree of scarring and shame. At least, it is necessary to heal enough to not be tied to the past. The Lord heals us inside and brightens our faces.

Third, He moves us to worship.

The woman who experienced healing through Jesus began to open her heart (verse 19). She wanted to worship (verse 20). She must have wanted to worship the God who changed her insides. “Praise God for quenching my thirst with the living water of the Holy Spirit. I thank God for healing my shame and wounds. I worship the God who makes me worship.” God works in us. We should praise and worship the God who works in us. We must testify how God has worked in us and how He is currently working in us. And we must praise God. God will be glorified through our worship.

The woman's heart became very hot. I couldn't stay still. So I went down to the village (verses 28-30). She left her water jar and went down to the village. I went to find people who rejected me. He went to the people he wanted to avoid. And he introduced Jesus whom he had met and testified of all that Jesus had done to him. The fire of the Holy Spirit ignited within the woman. Unspeakable excitement and uncontrollable excitement arose. What was the woman's expression like at this time? We are never incompetent. Only the fire of the Holy Spirit is extinguished. Light the fire of the Holy Spirit. This is the greatest inner change.
