Title: Whatever He says to you, do it!
Description The first sign Jesus showed when he received the Holy Spirit and began his public life was the event of turning water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana. This is not just the meaning of turning water into wine, but it also includes God’s providence to ‘create something out of nothing’ and the Lord’s amazing power to move from the dead to the living life. However, until these things are born, there must be an attitude of ‘obedience before the Word’. No matter how much the Lord wants to give life, if the creature rejects it, life will not work in the creature.
Jesus, who appears in today's text, did not go there on purpose to show signs. Jesus simply had a wedding feast in the town and went there with his disciples. When he heard from his mother unexpectedly that the wine was running out, he said, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” He immediately said that he had nothing to do with these things. But who was Jesus' mother? Wasn't she the most blessed woman in the world who followed the teachings of angels, received infinite grace from God, and conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit? He said that he was the child he had been born to, but he was well aware of how Jesus was conceived and how he was born, so he did not care at all when Jesus said such contradictory things, but called his servants and said, “Whatever he says to you, do it!” gives the command
Although Mary was the son she bore, she knew whose son Jesus was, so she ordered the servants there to ‘absolutely obey’. Running out of wine at the wedding banquet is the same reason that it is as if alive but dead. turned into a feast of hope. The history of faith can be seen as implying not only the change of water into wine, but also the sign that “a sinful man will have life through Jesus.”
When Jesus saw his mother, a woman, never backing down, but strongly dependent on God, he could not refuse their request of absolute obedience, although he did not come to do this for the purpose of which he had come. So, Jesus said, “Fill the jar with water.” Finally, God has no choice but to push Mary's faith. When the servants fill the stone jars with water, he says, “Now, scoop it up and bring it to the banquet hall.”
The history of faith that a woman hoped for and believed comes to show its true value through the taste of people who have tasted wine made of water. What does stone jar mean? A stone is a rock. The rock is the body of Jesus and a strong fortress. The wine also symbolizes the blood that Jesus will shed. The wine from the stone jar delighted the taste buds of those who attended the feast, but ultimately it has a great meaning that 'if all people can taste the precious blood (wine) that Jesus (rock) shed, they will gain life and be happy'. It is a meaningful target.
However, this sign was not accomplished voluntarily by Jesus, but was possible because of Mary's dedicated faith effort and the absolute obedience of the servants. Even today, we must absolutely believe in the Lord who has come as the Holy Spirit in order to “turn water into wine.” And you must have an attitude of absolute obedience to His word. Only then can we, too, be cleansed of our sins and perfected by the Lord who came through the Holy Spirit.
Just as people who know they are ill will seek treatment for their illness, but do not visit a doctor if they do not know that they are ill, even today, those who are deeply aware of their sins will kneel before the Lord and ask for help, but they cannot realize their sins. A person will never obey the Lord's word. Such a person will suffer indescribable physical pain on the day of calamity, and on the last day, they will surely face the Lord's severe judgment before the judgment seat of the Great White Throne and go into the lake of fire or darkness.
