Title: When Abandoning Child's Work
When you let go of a child's work
2012.04.15
“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I understood like a child, I thought like a child; but when I became a man, I gave up childish things” (1 Corinthians 13:11).
I. Text Commentary
Through the parable of a child and a grown man, the apostle emphasizes that attachment to the gifts of prophecy, tongues, and knowledge is the same as attachment to children's work.
II. children and grown-ups
A. Meaning of both terms
‘Little child’ is ‘ν?πιο?’ in Greek, and ‘ν? (no, there is no)’ and ‘πιο? Young children cannot communicate or receive speech well because they do not have mature thinking within them. ‘A grown-up person’ is ‘?ν?ρ’ in Greek, which means ‘adult’, and a grown-up person gives up childish work. As such, the gifts of knowledge, prophecy, and tongues are only a process that disappears after maturity.
B. The meaning of the parable
The Apostle associates ‘speaking’, ‘knowing’ and ‘thinking’ with three gifts: tongues, prophecy, and the gift of knowledge. These gifts were the means and essentials of building up the Church of God. However, these gifts are indirect and temporary compared to the excellent knowledge that will be possessed at the time of cinema, such as 'Children's Work'. The apostle uses the parable of a child and a grown man to speak of the limitations of the gifts and to emphasize that the problem in the church at Corinth is that the love through which all these gifts flow has disappeared.
II. the growth of the kingdom of God
The text should be interpreted in terms of the growth of the kingdom of God.
A. Aspects of Kingdom Growth
The Bible presents the growth phase of the kingdom of God in six ways. These are realm, dominion, joy, glory, love, and knowledge.
B. The Country: Expansion of Knowledge
V. The Kingdom of God and the Increase of Knowledge
The knowledge of the kingdom of God is largely divided into three periods, and this knowledge is increased with a differentiated dispensation.
A. From Incarnation to Resurrection
When Jesus was on this earth, He gave a new interpretation of the Old Testament, allowing us to see the Old Testament with new eyes. He also healed the sick and the weak, and cast out demons.
