Title [7.5] When can we be thankful?

Content

(Luke 17:11-19)

Today's text does not focus on the miracles and miracles of the cure of leprosy. This event, through the eyes of the scientist and doctor Luke, is not intended to represent a miracle of healing, but rather a teaching about gratitude. Then, let's take a look at each of the thanksgiving spoken through the text.

First, who should give thanks?

The main characters of the text are ten lepers. To be more precise, we are talking about gratitude through a Samaritan leper. Jesus' special emphasis is on the fact that they were all healed, but only one returned to give thanks. Karl Barth said that the difference between a believer and an unbeliever is in gratitude. Let us be thankful for the love of Jesus Christ who leads us to the end even in the midst of suffering. There are valleys of life and rivers to cross, but in the end, suffering is just a journey of life that we walk under the guidance of the Lord.

Second, when should we be thankful?

In verses 14-15, ten lepers were walking along the road, and they saw that their bodies were healed. The leper said he was grateful. Beloved, you may find many circumstances you will not be grateful for. And many experiences that you are not grateful for may come over and over again. But that's why we can come to Jesus. Only those who realize that they cannot trust themselves and the world can live according to the preciousness and preciousness of God's Word. If I can receive God's deeper and wonderful love through suffering, it is God's grace.

Finally, if so, what are the results of gratitude?

“Has no one returned to glorify God except this Gentile?” He said to him, “Rise and go, for your faith has made you well” (Luke 17:18-19).

There are two meanings of these words. One is that a life that glorifies God begins with a life of thanksgiving, and the other result of thanksgiving is complete salvation. The Samaritan went to God and thanked God for not only being healed but also praising God who had healed him. We see true love and healing happen when we meet God.

Even if we are lacking, the Lord accepts us and places us in a place where we should live. The Lord who exhorts us today so that we can live with hope. I bless you in the name of the Lord to wear the Lord of that power and live a victorious life.
