Title: When Jesus Comes Home
Contents
Everyone lives with problems. This problem is also proof that we are alive. Those who solve problems well live a successful life, and those who do not solve them fail. Today's text also refers to the house of Peter's mother-in-law, who was suffering from a fever. But when Jesus came to the house, the problem was solved.
do you go home
fever goes away
The fever that Peter's mother-in-law suffered from is a disease that is common in humid and hot regions. It is said that malaria is an endemic disease that is accompanied by high temperature and dehydration when the temperature rises to 40 degrees. Nowadays, it is possible to treat it with good medicine, but at the time it was a disease with a fairly high fatality rate. Fever is a chronic disease that binds a person's feet and hands to prevent them from performing their normal activities. But in the text, the Lord took his hand and raised him up and healed him. Because malaria and fever are contagious, people usually do not approach them. Also, when they meet someone who is in trouble, they turn away from it because they are afraid of harm. But the Lord does not turn away from our difficulties. From a human point of view, Jesus and Peter's mother-in-law have nothing to do with each other. But Jesus is the one who heals Peter's mother-in-law with love. The Lord comes to us today without turning away from our problems.
attendant
In general, after a serious illness, recovery period is required. However, it is recorded that Peter's mother-in-law, who was healed by Jesus, attended. This shows that Jesus' healing is immediate and complete without any recovery period. And the continuous service shows that it did not happen again. Servant refers to service.
Those who have been healed by the Lord must not end with a recovery from illness. Restoration must be a new beginning to a life of service. Today's tragedy is that we do not have a life of serving with the grace we receive when we seek grace. There are many people who say they have been blessed, but there is no one who gives the blessing they have received to others. Ephesians 2:10 says that the purpose of our salvation is that we who were saved by grace were created in Christ Jesus for good works. Do not be satisfied with the grace you have received, but hope that that grace will lead to service and service.
