Title: When shall we (Matthew 25:31-46)
The Gospel of Matthew was written for the Jews. He is teaching the reader responsibility and judgment by saying that Jesus is the Son of God who came as King. Therefore, the Gospel of Matthew is also called the 'Gospel of Judgment'. It contains a lot of instruction about judgment.
There are three parables in Matthew 25.
Verses 1-13 Parable of the ten virgins... Prepare for the Second Coming
Verses 14-30 Parable of the talents ... It speaks of loyalty, but the service of love is strong.
Verses 31-46 Parable of the Sheep and the Goats... Judgment of Works
All three parables teach us to prepare for the Lord's return and judgment.
Let's take a look at the chosen verse as the main text.
1. The time will surely come when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of glory.
He said he would come in his glory with the angels.
The first advent of Jesus was so humble that he was born in a manger in a stable. But his second coming will not be like the first. He will come to this earth in glory as the Judge. Then the Lord will gather before him, not only the Jews, but all nations.
2. As a shepherd separates sheep from goats.
The shepherd is seen as the Son of Man or God, and the sheep and goats are his colors, white and black, symbolizing good and evil. Even in practical value, the goat does not fall for the sheep, and the right side is considered to be better than the left side. The pigeon hawk used when talking about left or right wing or conservative liberals is also in the same vein.
