When the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
main text; Acts 1:6-14
Key Verse: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Is this the time to restore the kingdom of Israel?
This is the wish and wish of the people of Israel.
The country fell and became a vassal of Rome. The Israelites, especially the disciples, had no choice but to live with the shame of lack of a nation.
To make matters worse, even Jesus died on the cross and was buried in a tomb.
Even the last hope is gone.
But Jesus, who was buried in the tomb, rose from the dead and came to his disciples and said to them.
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me.
In a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Hearing these words, the disciples regained hope. They gathered again in Jerusalem.
We gather together and ask Jesus with a face full of hope.
“Is this the time to restore the kingdom of Israel?”
The nation of Israel that the disciples are talking about here does not refer to the spiritual nation of Israel, but to the independence of the country that has been taken away.
It means that the disciples' concern was not with their spiritual needs, but with their physical needs.
Jesus said that he would be “baptized with the Holy Spirit” with certainty and certainty.
I will heal you from your desperate physical condition.
I will free you from the reality of oppression and suffering. It was not a promise, but he was saying, “You will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Hearing this, all 11 of the disciples gathered in one place.
with one heart
I only use my strength in prayer.
At that time, the number of people gathered reached 120 and filled the space.
That means a lot of people have gathered.
For the past week, I have been meditating on Elisha while preparing for a Sunday sermon. I was reading the Bible, reading comments, reading books, praying, and preparing.
But last Friday, around 4 pm, I had to make a bulletin and send it to the printing house, but suddenly the text was changed from 2 Kings 2 to today's text, Acts 1.
Everything I had prepared so far was to no avail.
And the burden of having to prepare again arose.
So I prayed like this.
“God, can we have this sermon next week?”
But God's answer is, "Preach this sermon this week."
So, I wrote Acts 1:6-14 in the journal and gave it to the printing press.
As I was praying again, God showed me the reason, how did he give me such thorough, detailed, and necessary words?
At that time, I was convinced that these words were the words given to our church.
Last week I advertised that I would appoint a Cell Leader for our church.
But last week, I couldn't make the appointment, and I was still clinging to prayer over the appointment of a cell leader.
The answer God gave me, who was hesitating, was
It was to “see the possibilities and appoint them.”
With that response, the leader recorded in today's bulletin was confirmed.
This is the time when the word was changed from 2 Kings 2 to Acts 1.
I wrote the changed words in the bulletin and sent them to the printing house. After the Friday prayer meeting, it was Saturday morning and I was woken up by the sound of rain.
I get up, take a shower, go down to the office, open the Bible, and see the text that God gave me today.
The realization God has given me
Like the disciples in the Bible, the saints who come this Sunday will come out with the hope and desire for physical restoration.
But what they really need is not to get rich, to be cured of disease, or to get a job.
What the Yanguimun Saints need is ‘baptism in the Holy Spirit’.
