Title: Where Do You Live Now?
Text: Philippians 3:17-20
“But our citizenship is in heaven, from which we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).
Not long ago, a satirical article, "When you find out that you have been in Korea for a long time," has been spreading on several websites. For example, when eating naengmyeon and wishing it to be cut with scissors, when a friend pulls out of a car from the parking lot and finds himself shouting 'Olai orai', or when he hates Japan for no good reason. It is when you feel that you are alive.
When your friend is singing at a karaoke bar, when you add chuimsae while saying 'saha', when you drink soju and the first sound comes out, when you go to your hometown of New York and find yourself looking for Lotteria among fast food restaurants This is a case of forgetting that you are American.
These contents also show the aspect of us Koreans that we were not conscious of in general. In this way, we live our lives ignoring innumerable behaviors in our body as if it were a habit. There are many things that go unnoticed. These are my actions that are already going on unconsciously. We are living in Korea right now. Our consciousness structure and way of life are formed on the basis of it. But if we stay here, it will not work. Because we are new citizens. Like Paul's confession in the text, our eternal citizenship is in heaven. The Bible says, “To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man , but of God” (John 1:12-13). )
As long as we are the people of the kingdom of God and citizens of heaven, it is very natural to live a life worthy of it. Do we, the people of heaven, still have to live under the rule of this earth? Even though I do not feel it, the tokens of the people of heaven should appear. I should smell the smell of heaven in my body unconsciously. So Paul exhorts: “We are the fragrance of Christ to God both to those who are being saved and to those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). Let's pray for a life dominated by the people of heaven today. Let's pray for a day when the unconscious mind of heaven presses down on the consciousness of the world within us.
* Prayer: Break my self. Help me to live a worthy life as a child of God. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
