Where is your life going?
What is life? Where do you really come from and where are you going? Why do I exist, and how should I live? At the crossroads where one year passes and another begins, I can't help thinking about this. The question of life has always been asked since the beginning of human history. Also, the science that studies and pursues is called philosophy. But who am I still in that philosophy? Why do I have to live? I can't figure that out. However, God's Word clearly addresses these issues. What does the Bible say about life? Where is your life going? This morning I will tell you in detail through the homily.
I. Where is your life going? Life is running towards death. In verse 11 of today's text, human beings are referred to as sojourners and sojourners, and the entire Bible speaks of beings like strangers and passers-by. Here it is said, “I urge you as aliens and sojourners, strangers and passersby…” What are the attributes of the sojourners and strangers (guests and passersby) here? It means that you cannot stay in one place forever. In the end, they are beings who have to leave without staying even for a moment toward death. No matter how splendid all the kings and heroic heroes in the world were, they all ended in death.
In Luke 12:20-21, God said, "You fool, this night your soul will be required of you, and whose will your preparations be?" It is the same.” Strangely, people only struggle, work, and study only on the matter of life, and few people take seriously the matter of death, which may come even tonight. All life is heading towards death like this. There's no one else to object to here. I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will become a member of the Seongsan family who breaks the life that runs towards death.
2. Where is your life going? It is a life that runs before the judgment seat. What happens after a person dies? He said he would stand before the judgment seat. Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment…” Luke 22:53 says, “Every day I was with you in the temple, and you did not lay your hand on me. But now is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Now is the time when the wicked are gaining power.
Everyone will be judged according to their deeds.
① He is judged as he thinks.
② You will be judged as he said.
③ He will be judged for what he has done.
The unrighteous are rather prosperous. Ecclesiastes 8:11 says, “The heart of men is bold in doing evil, because the punishment for an evil deed is not carried out quickly.” I hope that you will stand before the judgment seat after death, and I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will live a life with no regrets or regrets.
3. Where is your life going? It's a life that goes to where you will live forever.
It doesn't go away when a person dies. It leads to the eternal world through judgment. The nature of the soul is immortality. It is not going away in any case. Humans have two eternities. There is eternal life and eternal death. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ already have eternal life. Eternal life is the blessing of grace given to those who believe in the Son of God. This is the Christian view of salvation.
Therefore, I, who was in God's will (in the plan) before eternity, came to the world by God's providence, and living a life of a sojourner and then returning to an eternal place is life. Even though this is so obvious, how many people still don't know where life is going? Peace will dwell in the dwelling place the Lord has prepared. Hopefully, now that you have realized the fundamental truth of life, you will not spend any more time in vain, but in the name of the Lord bless you in the name of the Lord that you will become a holy family who enters the kingdom of eternal life by living by faith in the correct truth.
