Title: Who Is God But Jehovah?
Contents Today's message was given through David. David lived a very difficult time. He was chased away by King Saul and his son Absalom, and he lived through many years of shame and hardship, but he overcame them all.
Today's sermon is a word that praised God with a grateful heart, out of the thrill that came out of such hardship.
I. It is a confession of faith toward God.
? Let's read verse 31 together. “Who is God but Jehovah . . . who is the rock”
1. Jehovah is the only true God.
‘Jehovah’ - the name of God. 'God' - A title that expresses the one and only God in Korean.
? There are so many gods in this world that it is impossible to count. Ex) Japan has 8 million gods. - So many reasons: I don't know which god will benefit. That is, there is no true God among them.
? Only God is the true God. “Who is God but Jehovah?”
2. There is no rock to rely on except God.
? What is a “rock”?
① This is the rock that will serve as the base. ? Do you have a rock that will make you unshaken?
② It is a rock to avoid. A place to hide when being chased by enemies. A place away from the scorching sun or strong sandy winds. ? God is the refuge to rely on and to breathe.
? Read Psalm 46:1-3.
II. Why did you say only God?
1. Because God illuminates my darkness.
? Let's read verse 28. “You have kindled my lamp . . . He will enlighten my darkness.” After David's suffering, the light came.
Ex) Augustine was perplexed when he saw the fall of the Roman Empire with the invasion of the barbarians of the Hautes. However, as the kingdoms of the world are falling apart, they see the light of the establishment of the kingdom of God and say ‘Amen’. This is "The City of God" (masterpiece).
? Hymn 535:1 “After darkness comes light, after the wind blows there is calm/ After showers there is sunshine, and after labor there is rest.”
? When our body is bright, we are less likely to feel spiritual darkness. When physical darkness comes, we suffer, but at this time spiritual light shines.
? Read Romans 13:12. “The night is deep and the day is near… Put on the armor of light.”
2. Because God makes my way perfect.
? What God saw David in a special way: David always asked God for his way and acted. ? Let's read 1 Samuel 30:8. When Amalek struck Ziklag and took his family captive.
? I am not going my way, nor am I living my life. Let's read verse 32. “This God … make my way perfect.”
3. Because God sets me on high.
? Let's read verse 33. “My feet … You set me on my high place.”
? King Saul mobilized the national forces to kill David, but he failed. In the end, God placed David on a high place. ‘He has been set up on high’ it means victory. Victory is not on good terms, many armies. It consists in living with God truly as one's own God.
Saints, who is your god? Can you risk your life and your life to serve Jehovah God? I wish you so.
