Title: Who Will Be Blessed?

Contents

───────────────────

Bible: Matthew 5:1-12

───────────────────

If you open the Psalms, the first chapter tells about who the blessed are. According to Psalm 1, blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, and do not sit in the seat of the scornful. However, in another text, Joshua 24:2, the blessed person is defined as follows. “People of Israel, do you know what your ancestors were like? When Terah, the father of your father Abraham, was on the other side of the river, and on the other side of the Euphrates River, he lived serving idols. But God called Abraham and brought him to this land of Canaan, and made him a blessed man.” The blessed person mentioned here worshiped idols in the past, and those who lived without knowing God were called by God and came to know God. From then on, those who followed God are said to be blessed people.

Peter was not a blessed man from the beginning who did not walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the way of sinners, and sit in the seat of the scornful. Peter was just a man who caught fish every day on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and he was a man who lived a life of mixed joy about catching a few fish every day without hope. But one day this man was called by Jesus and became a fisher of men. After meeting Jesus, Peter changed into a blessed man who came to know the Lord.

The Bible also says, Blessed are the meek, for they inherit the earth. Abraham said “yes” when God said “Abraham”. When you say “Abraham” at Mount Moriah, you say “yes,” as if the master calls his servant, “Slave Abraham.” It has never escaped or escaped from its master's call. Abraham always answered “yes” when God called him like a servant in front of his master. This Abraham, the Abraham who always answered “yes” as a servant before God and obeyed God’s word. Referring to this Abraham, God says, “You are the source of blessing, and all peoples will be blessed through you.” To the meek, God gives the earth as an inheritance.

The Bible says, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." This is what is persecuted for the sake of righteousness. “Jesus, I am so glad that I believe in Jesus. There is nothing better than this as I have lived a life where Jesus rules over me. I will boldly throw away anything I have to give up in order to have the life that Jesus rules.” Because they like Jesus, they are sometimes persecuted, sometimes their property is taken away, and sometimes they suffer hardships. It is said that people who live diligently for the Lord alone, those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness because of this kind of life. The blessing given to such a person is that they will be satisfied and the kingdom of heaven will be yours.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.” This is the love that Jesus loved me. I should give that love to others.' Then Jesus said, "You will have mercy." What is mercy? The baby is inside the mother's womb. How much will the mother care for the baby? A mother's love for the baby in her womb is compassion. When we show our love to others, God promises, “I will have mercy on you like a baby in my womb.”

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” The pure in heart are simple. A person who is pure in heart, like Moses, Peter, James, and John, always wants to see Jesus and meets Jesus. This person is a person with a pure heart. This person believes in seeing the face of God.

Blessed people, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will not end there, but will continue to progress toward those who will be blessed.
