Title: Who Wins? (2 Samuel 19:24-30)
[2 Samuel 19:24-30]
[24] ♠Mephibosheth, the grandson of Saul, came down to meet the king; from the day he left the king to the day he returned in peace, he did not dress his feet, nor shave his beard, nor wash his clothes. [26] And he answered, My lord and king, your servant, because I am lame, and I saddled my ass and wanted to ride and go with the king. [27] My servant has accused me to my lord the king. My lord the king is like a messenger of God, do what you have done. [28] ♠All my father's house is not but mortal in the sight of my lord the king. But since you have placed your servant among those who eat at the king's table, what right can I have to cry out to the king again? [29] The king said to him, "Why are you talking about your affairs again, I say? Divide the field with Ziba [30] ♠Mephibosheth said to the king, “My lord the king has returned to his palace in peace, so let him possess all of it.”
There are many times in life when you want to win. The text tells the story of King David meeting Mephibosheth after he returned from pacifying Absalom's rebellion. After explaining to King David why he had not left with the king and telling him that his servant had deceived him, King David seems to believe what he said, but makes an ambiguous decision to divide his wealth in half. Mephibosheth's servant was so engrossed in the meager food, such as a hundred raisins and two hundred loaves, that King David brought while fleeing from Absalom's rebellion. It's possible.
There will be many times when you are angry and sad. What is the correct answer then? Good luck to all of you. It is to love and embrace. He tells me to love even though he is someone who vilely tries to take away my things. Because love wins. When I read the words about Uriah's death, I was in great shock. Uriah's words, "As the king lives," touched my heart. David, who respected and loved Jehovah, was often fond of using the expression he swore by Jehovah's life. The reason Uriah now swears in the name of the king is because Uriah loves and respects King David so much. In front of a king with a dark heart, Uriah is full of trust in David. Who is the real winner? We are the real winners.
Now, it looks like Mubiboset is losing half of his fortune, but he seems to be completely victorious. We live on this earth, but we belong to heaven. They belong to the time of eternity. We must win. The secret to victory is love. Love your enemies. This is the way the Lord has shown us, and it is truly rewarding and valuable in eternity.
