Title: Why Don't You Criticize?
Text/ Matthew 7:1-5
1. Why <Tee in Others' Eyes> looks so good
Why are we so good at picking up specks in other people's eyes? A tiran is small enough to float in the sunlight, and you cannot see it unless you look carefully. And yet, why do we find the little speck in our brother's eye so well? Although the tee is small, it's not because you can't see it if you don't want to because it's shining brightly. Not because that little tee calls us out and grabs our attention. The reason is obvious. The reason is that we light our eyes and seek and find the tees. Because we secretly open our eyes and search for our brothers' faults, mistakes, faults, and weaknesses, we find those specks that are barely visible, and enlarge them with a plausible cause, abominably for the sake of our brothers. to expose it.
First, because of our envy. We are strangely hungry people when our cousins buy fields. <Proverbs 18:8 A person who loves talking to others speaks like a snack, it goes down to the depths of the stomach. Proverbs 17:9 He who covers a transgression seeks love, and he who repeats it separates close friends. > When I heard that someone else's son was doing well, I was moved because there was no love. It is good to hear that my son is doing well because there is love.
The second is because of the compensatory psychology that wants to hide and dilute my faults and weaknesses. A briber is eagerly looking for another briber. This is the psychology of the 五十步百步. A story like this appears in 孟子. < Right now, in the midst of a fierce battle between the two armies, a soldier left the front line because his life was precious and afraid, and ran about 50 steps to hide. He fell into a conflict of guilt and conscience. Then, suddenly, he looked ahead and saw that there was a defector like him 50 steps ahead of him.
At that moment, the soldier who ran 50 steps was freed from all his guilt and conflict. No, there is someone more cowardly than me! I ran 50 steps, but that person ran 100 steps away. >.Because of this psychology, people turn on the lights in their eyes to find other people's dust.
Third, because of hate. When they become my enemies, when they do not accept my will, when my interests and desires are hindered, I begin to look for the specks of my brother's eyes.
2. Why did you tell me not to criticize?
First, the community that criticizes the faults, weaknesses, and mistakes of the brothers is rapidly dismantled. The person being criticized will be silent, because he has made a mistake right now, and his mouth will be closed, but his heart will be filled with wrath and shame. And in his heart, < Come on, let's see! > leaves a core. And you become uncooperative with the critic. A community that repeats this vicious cycle quickly perishes.
Second, because those looking for a <tee> only see that little <tee> and miss out on more <good things>. As the saying goes, “Imitating stuttering, I become a stutterer myself”, if you only look for the faults and mistakes of others, you will have no choice but to live in a negative and dark world of faults, weaknesses, injustice, and mistakes without realizing it. Therefore, Jesus warned us not to go looking for tea.
3. First remove the plank from your eye, and then you will see clearly.
Anyone who once begins to see things with critical eyes sees anything with those eyes. What is <beam in my eye>? The envy of my heart that criticizes others, feelings of inferiority, hatred, stereotypes, anger, you did it to me before! All of these factors, such as neglect of Christian duties that come from , are the beams in our eyes. How can we see right away when these complex spiritual, psychological and emotional scales cover our eyes in layers as thick as beams? This is what Jesus told us to remove. He told me to peel off those layered scales. Then he said everything would look right.
Conclusion / Then, how can we get the beam out of our eye? What can you do to peel off the scales that cover the snow? The only way is < tears >. When tears of repentance, tears of repentance, and tears of gratitude flow down like a river, the beams that were lodged in my eyes will float away, and the scales that have covered my eyes will melt away. Then, we also met a blind beggar and said, <Who's sin? > Instead of the dark eyes of the disciples who criticize < How do I make God's glory be revealed through me? > You will be able to see things with the bright eyes of Jesus.
