Title: Why Jesus' Resurrection Is Sure

Contents

Mark 16:1-8 Why Jesus' resurrection is certain

Jesus died on the cross. The funeral was held on a Friday evening. And just as the sun went down, the Sabbath began. On the Sabbath, no one moves far. I didn't even walk more than 100m. Everyone did nothing but worship in the synagogue. Saturday evening Sabbath ended. But it was already night. And it was Sunday morning. Some women came to Jesus' tomb with incense. But they were concerned about how the women would be able to remove the heavy stone blocking the tomb.

At that time, burial in Israel was a culture in which burials were dug, bodies were put in, and stones were covered with stones. When the women arrived, they saw the heavy stone rolled aside. I looked into the tomb. Jesus' body was gone. It was an empty tomb. Later, Peter entered the empty tomb and saw. When a person dies, Israel wraps themselves in linen cloth. And the head is covered separately with semaphore. After Jesus was resurrected, the linen cloths were neatly arranged. The head semaphore and the body semaphore were arranged separately. The Gospel of John tells us this. “And the towel that had been wrapped around his head was not laid with the linen cloth, but was laid out as it had been wrapped elsewhere” (John 20:7).

This is the story of a couple. When I woke up in the morning, there was a woman who had a habit of throwing away her pajamas without even cleaning the blankets and futons. I couldn't stand it anymore, so one morning, looking at the messy house, my husband said something young. “Honey, Jesus was resurrected from the tomb after tidying up the linen cloths he was wearing even though he was in a crazy situation.” The lady smiled kindly and answered. "Honey, I'm sorry. It's because I haven't been resurrected yet."

When the women first looked into the empty tomb, they saw two angels. The women were so frightened that they put their faces to the ground. Then the two angels spoke. "Why do you seek the living from the dead? He is not here, but is risen. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee. The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinners, crucified, and rise again on the third day. did it."

The women remembered what Jesus had always said. Then he ran and testified to the disciples that Jesus had risen. The women saw an empty tomb. The people of the world want to be proud of themselves even in death. So when he died, he considered the size of the tomb to be his authority. Pyramids are like that. The pyramid tombs of Egypt are one of the eight wonders of the world. This is also the case with the Imperial Tomb of Qinshi, China. It is said that the Hwangneung of Jinsi, also called Yeosanneung, is a small distraction. It only takes 15 minutes to climb the stairs from the bottom of the tomb to the top.

You have dug some catacombs in China. It takes more than two hours just to look around. Later, he said he gave up because his leg hurts. But the tomb of Jesus is an empty tomb. What can an empty tomb be proud of? I don't have anything? But Christianity boasts an empty tomb. Why? Because the empty tomb proves that Jesus was resurrected. The resurrection of our Jesus is clear. Why?

1. Desire has an object.

Humans have an appetite. So there is a lot of food in the world. God only gave us an appetite and did not give us an object to satisfy our appetite. Also, humans are possessive. That is why he has given us many substances that are objects to satisfy our possessiveness. Also, humans have a sexual desire. Therefore, he gave reason to satisfy sexual desire. Also, people have a desire for honor. So, he gave people an object that would give them honor while living together rather than living alone. Also, people have a sleep craving. So God gave him a night and gave him a sleep that could satisfy his lust for sleep.

But the strongest desire for people is the desire to live forever. So, Qin Shi Huang ordered his servants to retrieve the fireweed. The servants left for Korea. However, the servants could not find the firewood and could not return to their hometown. Qin Shi Huang always looked to the east and waited for the servants who did not return from leaving to look for the fireweed. The statue is in Weihai, China.

Egyptian kings want to live forever, so when they become kings, the first thing they do is build pyramids. It was because they believed that if they made a large tomb and mummified the body, they would one day be resurrected. Eternal life is man's greatest desire. The same goes for our kings. When the king died, he wanted to be resurrected and live in another world, so he buried the servants and maids who were living together. And I buried the things I used. Every desire has an object. The greatest desire is resurrection. Therefore, the resurrection is inevitable.

2. Seeds have life.

In winter, the trees and plants seem to wither and die, but they are regenerated as seeds. The resurrection of plants. Seeds have been found in a 3,000-year-old pyramid. Scientists have been very interested. "If you plant a seed that is 3,000 years old, will it sprout or not?" No one answered. The answer is simple. Plant it and you will know. I planted that seed. Are you curious? If you believe it will sprout, say Amen. In conclusion, it has sprouted. Both animals and plants have seeds. Life without seeds is nothing in this world.

There was a child who had a lot of questions. I was walking on a country road with my family. Finally, the questions started. "Dad! What's that?" "It's planting beans." "What is that?" "Yeah, pepper" "Uh! You planted a pepper. What's that?" “I am planting rice.” The child looked around and saw the cemetery and asked. "Dad! What is that?" "That's where the dead are buried." said the son. "Oh, that's planted a person."

Folks, the cemetery is where people are planted. To plant means to sprout again. On the day of the Lord's resurrection, people will be born again in the cemetery. The Bible says: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ will rise first, and then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, so that we may always be with the Lord, therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Millet (Jean Francois 1817-1875)'s painting "Manjong" is an interpretation that is drawing attention as a painting of the Resurrection. The evening bells rang from the church as the farmer was doing hard work in the fields. It is a painting depicting an idyllic landscape of a peasant couple praying while listening to the church bells rather than working.

But this picture is not all that romantic. There is something Millet is trying to say through this picture. A pitchfork and a hammer are placed next to the peasant couple. The seed potato is in the mantle. However, the mangtaeggi was the mangtaeggi that the peasant couple held a funeral for when their baby died. Potato seeds were put in the mantle and planted in the field. The seed is the resurrection. It is an interpretation of the painting that contains the desire for a dead child to be resurrected.

3. There is truth in the evidence.

If the evidence is clear, the truth is correct. The empty tomb is a clear testimony to the resurrection of Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, the disciples were afraid that they too would be arrested and killed. So they all ran away to their hometown. Of Jesus' 12 disciples, only one Judas Iscariot was a Iscariot. And the other 11 were all Galileans.

Where did Jesus go first after he was resurrected? Jesus did not go first to Bethlehem, where he was born. He didn't even go to Nazareth, where he was brought up. The resurrected Jesus was the first to go to Galilee. This is where the 11 disciples all fled. There, Jesus found the 11 disciples again and entrusted them with a new mission. They clearly saw the resurrected Jesus. They were all martyred while preaching the Resurrection Lord.

No one in this world will be martyred for lies. Not one or two, but all were martyred. Because it is clear. Pascal said this. "Suppose that Jesus' disciples consulted with each other and made up a false resurrection of Jesus. If even one of them had returned to their true intentions, the entire resurrection of Jesus would have been destroyed. If we don't believe in the truth, we don't even have to talk to him anymore."

Suppose that the resurrection of Jesus is a lie, and the disciples falsely said, "Jesus is risen." If even one of them had made a declaration of conscience, Christianity would not exist. The evidence of the resurrection is clear just by looking at the fact that all 11 disciples were martyred. Because when the evidence is clear, the truth is clear.

But there is something we need to know. The Bible testifies that we will become the people of the kingdom of heaven in a transformed form. At the resurrection, the person becomes like Jesus. The body also becomes beautiful. Painful and bitter memories of the past are also beautifully purified. Therefore, the resurrection is what everyone wants. Our desire is to have a resurrected body. I pray that the resurrection of Jesus will be the resurrection of you and me.
