Title: Winners Don't Give Up (Patience)
Contents
Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we are not weary.
(Galatians 6:9)
Most of life cannot be accomplished without the virtue of patience, which the Bible calls “long-suffering.” Patience is the willingness to endure, endure, and persist in the pursuit of some worthy end.
The Greek word for patience is macrothumia, which is a combination of the word macros, which means ‘long’ or ‘slow’, and the word thumia, which means ‘wrath’. Combining the meanings of the two words creates the meaning of ‘slow to get angry’.
In order to become a winner in life, like a marathon rather than a 100m run, you have to be a guide.
1. A person who is patient endures difficult people.
We can learn a lot about patience from farmers. The farmer sows, weeds, waters, and cares, but what he does most is watch and wait. Because the farmer knows that there is no point in hastening the harvest and that the harvest will come in due time.
Someone said to the rear bumper of the car, “Patience me. Because God has not finished me yet.” Another person defined it as, “Patience is the ability to put the car in gear and make the engine idle when you want to run.”
As you go through life, you will realize that you cannot separate yourself from those who are testing your patience. Especially often those who love very much try to put their patience to the test. Therefore, if you think that difficult people come to you to help you develop the virtue of perseverance and overcome them, you can live a life of victorious perseverance among all people.
2. A person who is patient endures difficult problems.
Determination is closely related to perseverance. One organization named Thomas Edison the best person of the last thousand years, with 1,093 inventions and at least one patent a year for 65 years.
“Genius is 99% sweat and 1% inspiration,” he said. "If we try everything we can, we'll literally surprise ourselves," he said. Although we could not find a suitable material for incandescent lamps despite 10,000 experiments, we were able to present a bright light to mankind because we thought it was a success rather than a failure.
Like any picky person, problems are used as tools to advance you. Giraffes constantly kick their pups when they are born. It makes you stand up, and you make it walk and run. It seems ruthless, but that's how the cub survives.
There is a saying by William Murray Angus: “Remember that success is failure turned over.” Every time a problem is solved, success comes closer.
3. Patience has goals and perseveres.
The reason you need to be patient when dealing with other people or problems is not because patience can do you something, but because patience itself does something for you.
There is a process of ‘waiting’ in many success stories. We live in many temptations that do not require patience. You can eat the finished dish without touching it one by one, and you can make the necessary items your own by exchange value.
Sometimes, even if you want something, you have to wait for it to be given, so it's easier to change what you want with something else. As a result, the rate of choosing the wrong thing rather than waiting is increasing.
Manager Joe Torre, who led the New York Yankees to World Series championships multiple times, played a total of 4,272 games. He won only 119 of 500 games before coming as Yankees manager, but he didn't consider himself a loser.
A goal holds you to persevere in the face of difficult people and challenges, and ultimately helps you become a winner in life.
Application: When dealing with difficult people and difficult problems,
Be patient and don't give up.
