Title: Wisdom from God (Daniel 1:17-20)
Lesson 8 Wisdom from God (Daniel 1:17-20)
1:17-21
Besides God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding in all learning and skill, Daniel also understood and understood all visions and dreams. When I spoke with them, I saw that there was no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah among the crowd, so I made them stand before the king, and while the king inquired of them all things, their wisdom and understanding were ten times greater than that of all the magicians and magicians of the whole country. But Daniel remained until the first year of King Cyrus.
Daniel and his three friends refused the king's delicacies and the king's wine, and instead ate vegetables and water. Finally, three years have passed. The training period is over. What was the result? Were Daniel and his three friends punished for breaking the king's command? It's not like that. Also, perhaps because of insufficient nutritional supplementation, he could not overcome the competition with other boys? Nor is it. Daniel and his three friends excelled academically compared to their peers. And he was loved by the king and was exalted.
How could such a thing be possible? Is it because Daniel and his three friends studied hard to win the competition? Perhaps the eunuch and the overseer thought it was because they worked hard to teach Daniel and his three friends. Or else, Daniel and his three friends, instead of not eating the king's delicacies and the king's wine, made a condition to say, "Give us a good tutor," and studied intensively. no.
If you look at verse 17 in today's text, what word does it start with? Start with an important word. "God." God did it. Who has sovereignty? it belongs to God. It is said that God has given the four boys knowledge and understanding in all learning and skill. It was God who gave Daniel and his three friends understanding. It is also God who gives knowledge. Where was the source of wisdom and knowledge? It was said to be in the fear of the Lord. Studying to die doesn't mean you can't do it. This is possible only when God, who works with all sovereignty, helps and protects us.
This happened in Daegu many years ago. There was a big fire in the old town of a certain hotel. Many people died. There was an elder's son among them, so it was a fire. The elder's son is now 3 years old. When I didn't go to church because I was studying for the entrance exam, my father, the elder, had to remind me that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." He said, "It's okay to go to church hard after entering college, so study hard!" That's how I studied and went to college. I did it again for one more year. fell again. The whole house has become like a portrait house. It didn't end with falling. I started making bad friends. Started smoking and drinking alcohol. In the end, he went to Gogojang and danced all night, and the fire turned into a charred lump of charcoal.
Above all, we need to develop faith in our children. We must realize that the fear of God is the root of wisdom and knowledge. The sovereign over all things is God. God must protect my health, God must protect the peace of my family, and God must help me with my livelihood. We need to know that God is sovereign over everything.
"Unless God has given these four young men knowledge, and understanding in all learning and skill." Because God gave him wisdom, Daniel and his three friends were able to master the Chaldean language and learning. Besides that, what gift did God give Daniel? “Daniel also understood and understood all visions and dreams.” It's not because Daniel has a natural talent in that area. Because Daniel decided on his will and took the lead, God gave him a bigger gift. You made me realize and understand the ideal and the dream.
How did God reveal His will before the Bible was completed? By what method did you do it? He spoke through heavenly bodies, revealed through the Urim and Thummim, and revealed through dreams and visions. So, what does it mean to realize and understand the ideal and Mongjo? It means that Daniel was able to understand and understand the will of God.
I ask. A certain king was drinking wine from a holy vessel he had taken from Jerusalem, and he saw a vision where a finger appeared and written on the wall, “Mene Mene Tekel Uvarsin.” Daniel interpreted more than that. Who was the king? This is Belshazzar. And in chapter 7 and below, four visions that Daniel saw are recorded. Daniel realized the ideal. That's what God did.
Daniel was also able to understand and understand what God had revealed through dreams and dreams. In chapters 2 and 4, whose dreams are recorded? Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The phrase “Daniel understood and understood all visions and dreams” is an explanation of the contents of Chapters 2, 4, 5, and 7 and below with a double line in advance.
What we need to remember today is that all sovereignty is in the hands of God. The fact is that God is doing it. Let's search the Bible together. Let's read 1 Samuel 2:30 together.
“Therefore, says the LORD, the God of Israel, I have said that your house and the house of your forefathers will walk before me forever, but now, says the LORD, it will never be so; those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me I will despise. I will consider it."
Whatever you do today, I hope that you will honor God. When Daniel and his three friends acknowledged Jehovah God in everything and wanted to live according to God's will, God honored Daniel and his three friends. Instead of relying on my strength, my thoughts, or my talents, I hope you have a day where you put your trust in the Lord and put Jesus Christ first. When we do this, God uses us more preciously. I pray in the name of Jesus that you have a blessed day putting Jesus Christ first.
