Title: Wisdom Makes Your Face Shine/Ecclesiastes 8
Wisdom is the best Wisdom rejoices the heart (Proverbs 2:10), refreshes the marrow (Proverbs 3:8), becomes the tree of life (Proverbs 3:18), and makes the face radiant (Ecclesiastes 8:1). What is wisdom? The first is to fear God, the second is to cherish people, and the third is to give up covetousness for wealth.
1. "Wisdom makes a man's face shine" (1)
Wisdom makes the mind, body and face healthy and beautiful. make it shine Stephen, who feared God and had a tender heart toward people, even though he was persecuted, his face shone like an angel's (Acts 6:15). When you embrace wisdom, the ferocious thing on your face becomes soft.
2. "Keep the king's commandments" (2-8)
The king here refers to God. Wisdom is the fear of God and obedience to His commands. Turn away from the presence of the King, God, and do not do evil. Stay close to God and keep His commands. A wise man who keeps the king's orders will not know his anger.
A wise man recognizes the timing (time) and judgment (method) of God's work and fears him, but a foolish person does not know it, so he gets angry at him because he wants to.
A wise man knows that the future and life and death are in God's hands and fears him, but a fool does not know it, so he falls into anxiety, fear, and despair. A person who knows how to confess that I do not know is a wise person. The wise man lives in peace, joy, and hope.
3. “It will be well with those who fear God” (9-13)
At first glance, the world is unfair. A man claims a man to harm him, and then he dies and goes to the grave. Those who do good are often cast out. The punishment of the wicked is not carried out quickly. A sinner commits evil a hundred times and lives long.
But what we must know for sure is that it is well with those who fear God and fear him before him. The fate of the wicked is, after all, a shadow.
4. "There is nothing better than eating and drinking and rejoicing" (14-17).
Wisdom is ultimately about giving up greed for material things, wealth, or pleasure, and living a simple and pleasant life, fearing God and valuing people. The wise man's life is to eat, drink, toil, and to be content with his work (Ecclesiastes 3:22). "We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it, so that we have food and clothing, and that we are content. Those who want to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts. which plunges men into destruction and destruction” (1 Timothy 6:7-9).
Still, people are foolish and foolish, and they work hard and toil without being able to sleep day and night with money. After all, human beings are foolish and cannot understand the mysteries of God. Therefore, for us, gaining wisdom, true wisdom, is the most important thing.
