Wisdom for Salvation: The Bible (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
Dear saints, do you and your children really want to prosper? Do you want to be successful? If so, please read and meditate on the Bible, which is the true wisdom book and guide for life. Through the words of the text we read today, let's take a look at how the Bible, the word of wisdom that leads to salvation, works in our lives.
First, the Bible gives us wisdom for salvation. (verse 15)
Kyobo Bookstore Gwanghwa Branch is located in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. As you enter there, there is a catchy phrase. “People make books, and books make people.” It is said that if you read a lot of good books, you will become a great person. That's really meaningful. There are countless books in the world, and it is said that books have a way. Because the contents of the books show the way of life. However, the Bible teaches that there is not only the way of life, but also the way of eternal life and the way of salvation. No other book in the world suggests how to be saved. There are many books that can cure physical diseases and mental diseases, but only the Bible can cure diseases of the soul. That is why the Bible is our most precious book. The Bible is not the thoughts of us humans, but the thoughts of God, and it is the word of the power to change lives and raise the dead.
Second, the Bible helps us (verse 16).
There are countless cases of people who turned their backs on God and wandered into the bog of unbelief and sin through the Bible. That's right. If anyone approaches the Bible, the Holy Spirit works. Since the Bible was written by the inspiration of God, that is, by the work of the Holy Spirit, when I read this Bible silently, my heart warms. You will be impressed. So it teaches me a lesson. sometimes rebuke. So let me, who is crooked, live a right life. It educates me to live a righteous life. That is why the Bible, the word of God, is so useful. The Reformer Luther said, “The Bible is alive. So the Bible tells me. Words have feet. so follow me Words have hands. so hold me The Word lives and works.” That's right. When we rely only on the Bible, the Word of God, there is life and a way. lead us on the right path. That is why we cannot do anything apart from God, that is, apart from the Bible.
Third, it perfects the man of God (verse 17).
This verse 17 reminds us of two things. First, it teaches that “the Bible enables us to become whole beings as men of God.” complete existence. In fact, it is impossible for us to be whole beings on our own. But this Bible book, written by the inspiration of God, makes us whole. It is the word that makes us born again. Second, he said, “that he might be equipped to do every good work.” In other words, through these words, we believers make us realize that we must do all good works. But the truth is, we are not the kind of beings who can do good works. We don't have that ability at all. What we can understand from this verse 17 is that the ability to do good is not given to everyone. In other words, only those who are educated in the Bible will have the ability to do good works.
Dear saints, may all of you become precious children of God who are used by God by daily reading and meditating on the Word of the Bible and obeying the Word, which will make you all men of God and equip you with the ability to do all good works. I bless you by name.
