Title: Without self-control
Contents 1. The third week of November is observed as “Thanksgiving Sunday” by most churches. And we will spend the month of November with the theme of "Thanksgiving Month".
2. Gratitude is not just words. Appropriate confession of faith must follow, and it must be enough to make a decision about material things to reach the level of true gratitude.
3. This is because it is natural for people to want to give their precious things to those they truly respect or love.
4. However, humans are fundamentally stingy toward God. It's because they're too enslaved to themselves. We are all slaves to lust. Therefore, true gratitude is liberation from one's slavery.
I. Eyes stimulate lust (1-8).
A. The condition of Solomon.
1. King Solomon was very fond of women. It may have been because of his power as a king and his natural character.
2. However, the problem was that he liked not only women, but also "women from neighboring countries that he shouldn't like."
3. For Solomon, foreign women had already come in as wives. Perhaps this was the beginning of his ruin.
4. God has already given the warning, "Do not marry a foreigner." Nevertheless, Solomon disobeyed it. Because he was already possessed by lust.
B. Solomon turned away from God.
1. He had 700 wives and 300 concubines. They completely turned Solomon's heart away from God.
2. Once a person falls into greed, the voice of God is no longer heard. And only the temptation of lust attracts him. The fall of Solomon was in a fixed order.
3. The action taken by Solomon, who distanced himself from God, began to worship idols as the women wanted. But later, he served a foreign god altogether.
4. How stupid is this? If we want to lead a religious life that worships God, isn't it natural to serve Jehovah, the King of kings, 100 times or 1000 times? But lust robs man of all judgment. So that's why it's so stupid.
5. Later, he built shrines for foreign wives and allowed them to serve their gods. Regarding his faith, he was abusing God's office even though it was God and not the king.
6. He was given several diagnoses.
1) He had too many wives.
2) His father David's heart was completely different. It is natural for a son to resemble his father. Therefore, in order to have godly offspring, you must be godly.
3) They could not serve the Lord.
7. In the end, "greed" took away all of Solomon's normal reason.
II. Lust brings discipline (9-13).
A. God warns before discipline.
1. God gave a warning "early". And he said "twice." The warning was a specific warning. "Do not serve foreign gods"
2. God also warns us all. He says, "Do not serve anyone but me." But we are obsessed with material too much. Aren't all material things God-given?
3. If we don't get it, God will punish us.
B. He gave the punishment.
1. The sovereignty was reclaimed. If you sin with your health, your health is restored. If you commit a crime because of the substance, the substance is recovered. What God has given was given to be used for God's sake, not for sin.
2. But his punishment took into account his father's promise. So, I decided to do it in my children's generation instead of practicing it at the time. He emphasized that God will keep His promises under any circumstances.
3. Rather, he should bear the sins he has committed, but it is more painful for a child to have to pay for the sins of his father. But humans don't want to be like this.
conclusion
1. Our enemy is "lust". Greed is the biggest enemy. Greed is the vanguard that destroys us. That lust seduces us through the eyes.
2. Once you give interest to greed, greed takes over all of the reason. So it makes obedience to all the demands of greed. But from that moment on, he becomes far from God.
3. It is not because we are not thankful for anything. It was because he gave all the control of the mind to greed. Therefore, it is a very serious problem to not give thanks to God materially. This is a religious issue.
4. Temperance is a matter of faith. It starts from the temptation of unnecessary knowledge to know anything other than God. But the end of this departure is very unfortunate. Temperance begins with knowledge, but leads to the end of ruin.
5. How did you live this year? Haven't you acted the way you see it? You don't need to know about greed. No matter how much greed stimulates and entices me, I must never pretend to know.
6. The saints should know only God. We need to know what God wants and we need to know what God hates.
7. If you do what you want, what you see, what you like, what is the result? It is such a great misfortune. Because my children, whom I love the most, deserve the punishment. Who knows and who believes this? Why should my children be punished for my faults? The key lies with you.
