Title: Witnesses of Christ / Acts 1:6-8

Content Sermon Title The Witnesses of Christ

Preacher Kim Jo

Bible verses Acts 1:6-8

1. Now is the time to do the Lord's work. (Verses 6-8)

2. You must receive the power of the Holy Spirit. (8 verses)

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” The word “power” is a compound word of authority and power, and it is called “Dunamin” in Greek and “dynamic dynamite” in English. When the power comes, you can do things that you could not do with human strength, effort, and talent. To overcome Satan who has taken the power of the air, we must have the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the disciples, who were failures, fugitives, and betrayers, received the filling of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, and as witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus (3:15, 5:32, 10:39, 13:21, 22:15), they fulfilled their mission and healed the sick. As evidence, the great revival was accomplished. Let's receive the power of the Holy Spirit and fulfill our mission as a witness of Christ. I pray, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:16). I pray that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit and overcome all things with that power and become blessed saints.

3. You must go to the ends of the earth. (Verse 8b)

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Where is the end of the earth? It's called the end. Also, Jerusalem is the place where the disciples are now, and all of Judah is the area surrounding Jerusalem. It must be preached beyond Judah, Samaria, and all over the world, from near to far. So, if we decompose the Acts of the Apostles, 1:~7: is the evangelism in Jerusalem, 8:~11: is the evangelism in Judea and Samaria, and in 12:~28: it tells the whole world, that is, even to Rome, so the text is also called the general verse of the Acts of the Apostles. . The end of the earth is something that must be done no matter where in the world, and it is something that must be preached to even the evil ones who do not believe in Jesus or who do not believe in Jesus. We pray that you will not give up with our thoughts and judgments and that you will become a witness of Christ who fulfills the mission of spreading the gospel to the end.

I will finish speaking.

We have heard the last command and request of Jesus Christ today. We are called to be witnesses of Christ. A witness of Christ is to be appointed by Christ, to be a witness for Christ, and to bear witness of all the power, power, and grace of Christ. Therefore, leave the time and deadline to the Father and realize that now is the time to do the Lord's work. Because we do not know the time of the Lord's second coming so that we do not procrastinate or miss the next time, we do not regret. Because there are many things that are impossible with human talents and abilities. A witness for Christ must be a witness to the ends of the earth. Now, I pray that we all become saints who enjoy the love and blessings of God through our lives as witnesses of Christ.
