Title: Words and Life

Contents

title ; word and life

main text ; Deuteronomy 5:1

There is a proverb that says, “Find a champagne in a well”. This means that no matter how busy you are, there is a procedure for work. If you want to drink Sungnyeong, you get water from the well, wash and cook the rice, and after scooping out all the rice, pour water over the nurungji and boil it to a certain extent, and you will get a savory Sungnyeong. However, if you ignore all the procedures and go to the well and ask for money, you are wrong.

After the Exodus, the religious and ethical dimensions of the Israelites became inseparable from each other. Confessing that Israel will become God's people is no different from confessing that they will live as God's people. In particular, Moses received a revelation from God about the attitude and method of the people of Israel to live. This was the “law” that was central to the lives of the people of Israel.

Moses did not forget the exhortation before proclaiming this teaching. These words of encouragement are the words of today's text. This verse is a word of instruction on how and at what stage we will apply the Word of God in our lives.

1. We must listen to the Word.

Romans 10:17 testifies that faith comes from hearing.

The biggest difference between Christians and non-Christians is do you listen to the Word? The difference is if you don't listen. Jesus asks us to listen. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Matthew 11:15) Also, the Lord said in Matthew 13:16, “Blessed are your ears because they hear”.

However, a characteristic of many modern Christians is that they do not like to listen to the Word. I see them rejecting precepts and exhortations, choosing and listening only to useful words, and paying more attention to the voices that lead to destruction than to the voices of eternal life and salvation. When one's own mistakes are pointed out while listening to the Word, the members of the church show two reactions. One is against the Word. And he refuses to speak. Furthermore, he tries to split the Word himself. But the other class obeys the Word. Accept. Let the Word divide itself. Who will live a life of grace?

In martial arts such as Taekwondo, there is a so-called breaking technique. Breaking a brick, a piece of wood, or a tile with a fist or forehead. By the way, if a brick breaks when struck with a fist or forehead, the forehead does not hurt. But if the bricks are not broken, the forehead is broken. And it hurts a lot. I bleed too. Be a saint who obeys the Word.

2. You must learn the Word.

The growth of faith occurs when we hear and learn the Word.

To learn the Word means to make the Word conscious.

The reason that the Israelites were able to keep their faith despite all kinds of hardship and persecution was because they thoroughly consciously made the Word. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 testifies:

“These words that I am commanding you today will be kept in your heart, and you will teach them diligently to your children, and you will preach them when you sit at home, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. and put it on your forehead as a mark, and write it on the doorpost of your house and on the outside door.”

In order for the written God to have the power to live and work in the Word, the Word must be firmly rooted in the heart's field.

3. We must keep the Word.

If you do not keep the words you have heard and learned, everything is useless.

Satan's best strategy is to steal the Word. In other words, when the saints hear and learn the Word, Satan steals the Word even before it is planted in the field of their hearts. If you do not keep the words you have heard and learned, all your labor will be in vain. As if all the farmwork I worked hard for all summer was stolen before the harvest, as if I did the hard work, but it doesn’t work for me

Only believers who firmly keep the Word can win the spiritual battle.

Satan uses his Word to trick us into a snare. The delusion of heresy also comes through the Word. In Matthew 4: , Satan used the Word to tempt Jesus. However, we must remember that the weapon that was able to overcome that test was the Word. The most powerful weapons against Satan are prayer and the Word.

4. We must practice the Word.

Making the Word a daily life is essential for believers.

Doing the Word means that the Word has become life. When the Word becomes our life, our faith and our life become one.

The apostle James testifies that faith without works is dead faith.

No matter how well you listen, learn and keep the Word, if you do not do it, it is dead faith. Among the believers who have studied the Bible a lot, the reason why they move from church to place, fall into pride, and neglect their religious life is because they do not do the last step, the deed, even after hearing, learning, and keeping the Word.

Christian faith and ethics, that is, life, are two sides of a coin that cannot be separated. However, many Christians live their lives separate from their faith. There are many people who worship at church on Sunday, but few live the life of a true Christian. The reality is that the life of faith is being reduced to a secondary concern rather than a primary concern. The reason for this is that the conscious and habitualization of the Word is not achieved.

In order for the Word to be applied to your life, I pray that you will become a saint who is praised and recognized by God and loved by people by listening to the Word well, learning diligently, risking your life to protect it, and doing your best.
