Title: Words of Victory/John 19:30

Contents Words of Victory

John 19:30

Jesus' words of mourning and screaming so far will be replaced with a victory declaration and cheers saying "It is finished". There is a saying that the back of any cloud shines with silver. Likewise, there were two great sides to the cross of Christ. One shows the depth of Jesus' humility, and the other tells what the purpose of Jesus' incarnation is, and proves the fulfillment of that mission.

This is the foundation of our salvation.

The ancient Greeks were proud of being able to express a lot in a few words. "To express as much content as sea water in a drop of words" was considered perfect eloquence.

{It is finished} In the original text, there is only one word.

Nevertheless, the gospel of God is all in this one word.

In this single word, there is a decision of faith that the saints are certain of,

There are all elements of joy in this one word,

God's people's infinite hope is contained in these single words.

Since the creation of the heavens and the earth, God's purpose was one. Even if the times and history change, God's will for mankind is only one, and it cannot be changed or added.

However, for this one purpose, God revealed and communicated it in various ways and by mobilizing many people. Sometimes he delivered it symbolically, sometimes as a clear notification, and sometimes as a word of prophecy and instruction.

But on the cross he accomplished all this perfectly.

1. We see that all the prophecies about the Messiah have come true.

Thousands of years ago, God showed the need for a Savior, and from several centuries ago, God's prophets specifically wrote about the coming Messiah and told him in detail what he was going to do (his humility, his power, and his sufferings). Nothing was left behind.

Birth of a virgin, of the lineage of Abraham and David, born of Esau of Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, that a messenger shall come before him - John,

“Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be opened, and the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing” (Isaiah 35:5,6).

Those who have read the Gospels can see how amazingly these words were answered.

He also said that he would be rejected by the Jews, and he would be innocently hated, insulted and ridiculed (Isaiah 53:3). All these things were fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

The prophecy about the first coming of Jesus was completely fulfilled. All of them were fulfilled as God had said. This also tells us that the prophecies of the second coming of Jesus will be fulfilled without fail. The word written in the Bible will surely come true in due time. Esau's words testify.

2. Here we see his suffering end.

If we look at the lives of the great men of faith in the Bible, we can see that they went through great trials and tribulations in order to achieve great achievements or to accomplish God's work.

For example, Joseph went through countless difficulties until he became prime minister of Egypt and saved the Jacob family. He was hated by his brothers and sold into slavery, and in the house of Potiphar, the chief of the Egyptian army, he was imprisoned without a promise of release because of his wife's conspiracy.

Elijah, who was a prophet of power, once prayed that he would rather die under a rosemary tree because of hardship and suffering while doing God's work.

However, the suffering of Jesus was different from their suffering. He suffered physical, mental, and spiritual pain and anguish, as the term {man of suffering} fits. He suffered from the hand of man, the hand of Satan, and the hand of God. He suffered. His enemies and friends alike inflicted suffering upon him.

'I have suffered from infancy, and have been brought to death; I was devastated when I was terrified of you' (Psalm 88:15).

Everyone goes through hardship and adversity. However, there is no one who is well aware of the future and faces hardships. It is to hope and expect good things, and then unexpectedly encounter difficulties.

But the Lord saw through the future. He knew everything from the beginning to the end and endured the hardships to come.

EX) * He said that “his time” at the wedding in Cana had not come.

* To Nicodemus "The Son of Man speaks of what must be heard"

* At the place where Peter confessed his faith, he specifically said, "He must go to Jerusalem, suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day" (Matthew 16:21) )

The suffering of Jesus is more painful and difficult to endure because it was a suffering that he had foreseen in advance.

But now the torment is over. His holy soul shudders, and the sufferings are now over. The cup of the Savior's drink is empty. The dreadful storm of God's wrath is now over. The darkness is over. I did.

Darkness is for dawn.

Pain, no matter how long or difficult, always has an end.

Shame, disgrace, and anguish have their end.

The morning after that night is brighter.

3. It means the completion of the law.

At that time, Jewish religious leaders identified Jesus as a dangerous heretic who defied the law and even tried to abolish it. However, they misunderstood the true meaning and purpose of the law and made such a absurd reproach.

Originally, the Law was given as a pattern to guide God's chosen people, the people of Israel, on the right religious and social path, and to lead them to the salvation of Jesus Christ. So, the various sacrificial regulations of the Law all testify to Jesus' ransom sacrifice and there is.

However, most of the Jews at that time were immersed in formalistic worship and did not know how to do anything other than exclamatory and ancient interpretations that accepted only the parts that fit their human taste (Hebrews 10:1-18).

Jesus, who knew this well, rebuked him, saying, "Did not Moses give you the law? None of you keep the law. Why are you trying to kill me?"

Jesus did not weep to abolish the law, but to complete it. No one in this world can fully satisfy the requirements of the law by his or her own strength. Because the ultimate goal of the law is love, and that love can only be put into practice by God. because of.

Jesus showed us this love, practiced it, and perfected it through the cross. Through the cross of Jesus, the law was also perfected, and the value of its existence was confirmed.

It is the word of the Lord that the proclamation that the salvation that God so wanted to achieve and that provided the way through the Law was completed is {finished}.

4. Here we see the end of sin.

All our sins have been imputed to the Savior. The Bible says, "All of us, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, and the Lord hath laid upon him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6).

Since the fall of Adam, all people have sinned. And all people in this world will continue to live in sin. But the responsibility for that sin is no longer on me, and Jesus has already solved it.

When a person sentenced to death by a judge and awaiting execution is granted a pardon by the president, the judgment of the judge no longer takes effect.

All our sins have been imputed to Jesus, our substitute, and we have been justified. So, from now on, sin can no longer torment us. The price of sin is death, so that the power of death cannot oppress us. has been

Then what would the cross be if not the grave of sin?

5. It represents the final victory.

When Jesus was crucified, the adversaries would have rejoiced, applauded and rejoiced inside. But, ironically, the cross of Jesus was also a sign of the triumph of God and of the Lord.

Satan, who corrupted Adam and Eve, the first human beings, has continuously sabotaged God's work of redemption. And when he saw Jesus on the cross, he rejoiced that his will was accomplished.

However, the cross was a mace given to Satan and a death sentence. He is not immediately thrown into the abyss, but his fate has been decided.

Satan, who tried to gain his complete victory by resisting God and nailing the Son of God, is ultimately defeated by the resurrection of Jesus three days later.

{It is finished} Do you believe these words?

Or am I still trying to add something to myself, thinking that the cross is not enough?

All we have to do is accept the forgiveness that Jesus Christ made on the cross.

It is to open your heart and accept the love that showed His death.
