The cause of the believer's thirst
1. It comes from God's discipline for unbelief.
“Do not serve the LORD your God with joy and rejoicing in your heart, though you have all that you have.
Because you were not, you hunger, thirst, and were naked and in need of all things,
You will serve the enemy whom he will send against you, and he will put an iron yoke around your neck.
I will eventually destroy you.” (Deuteronomy 28:47-48)
2. It comes from the fatigue of a long trip.
“Again, toil and toil, many times unable to sleep, hunger, thirst, hunger many times, cold and
naked” (2 Corinthians 11:27).
3. It is a symbol of pain in the vagina.
"He called and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to
Dip the tip in water and cool my tongue, for I am troubled in the midst of this flame.”
A. 16:24)
parable of thirst
1. It is the voice of the Lord calling for a thirsty life.
“Come, you who thirst, come to the waters, and he who has no money, come ye, buy and eat, and have no money.
Come and buy wine and milk without this price” (Isaiah 55:1).
“On the last day of the feast, on the great day, Jesus stood up and cried, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him
Come and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the scripture says, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.
He was speaking of the Holy Spirit, whom those who believe in Him will receive (Jesus has not yet
Because he had not been glorified, the Holy Spirit was not yet upon them” (John’s Gospel).
7:37-39)
2. It is the voice of the Lord teaching us through service.
“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger
When I was young, I welcomed you, when I was naked, I put on clothes, when I was sick, I looked after you, I was in prison.
came and saw it when it was written. And the righteous answered and said, Lord, when shall we
Did they see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?” (Matt.
Gospel 25:35-42)
How can I quench my thirst?
1. You must believe in Jesus as the Christ.
"Jesus said, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never go hungry.
and he who believes in me will never thirst” (John 6:35).
2. We must hear the calling of the Holy Spirit.
“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come,’ and those who hear will say, ‘Come.
Another will come, and whoever wants, let him receive the water of life without price.” (Revelation)
22:17)
