Title: Words scarier than a weapon

Contents

“Your tongue devises bitter evil, working tricks like a sharp razor. You love evil more than good, and deceit rather than speaking righteousness.”

A child was playing with a slingshot at the playground and accidentally hit an old woman's arm. The aunt took the little boy and went to see the mother. 'I can't tell you how eccentric and troublesome he is. If it's still like this now, wouldn't it be obvious that it would cause more trouble when you grow up? And I always play with only dangerous things, so my mother should scold me a little.' The old woman couldn't stop talking. The little girl's mother, who was listening quietly, said: 'It is true that my child played with dangerous things. But she has something more dangerous.' 'what is that?' asked the old woman. 'It's the mouth. Stones only hurt the body a little, but words can also hurt people's hearts.'

People pay attention to the outward wounds and damage, but are often unaware of the impact their words have on the mind and character of others. Words, once heard, can be remembered for years or even decades, and can have an impact for a lifetime. Because words come out of what is in the heart (Luke 6:45). Therefore, to speak good words, you must have a right heart.

The Bible says

“The words of the mouth of a wise man are gracious, but the lips of a fool swallow him up” (Ecclesiastes 10:12).

“The lips of the righteous educate many, but fools die for lack of knowledge” (Proverbs 10:21).

“The heart of the righteous ponders what to say, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil” (Proverbs 15:28).

“He who spares his words has knowledge, and he who is humble in spirit has understanding. A fool is considered wise when he is silent, but prudent when he closes his lips” (Proverbs 17:27, 28).

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and whoever loves it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).

We shed tens of thousands of words every day. Sometimes, a word spoken carelessly can hurt and hurt others, but words of wisdom and hope can give courage and encouragement to others. That is why Proverbs 16:24 says, “Good words are like honeycombs, sweet to the heart and healing to the bones.”

Shouldn't our words now contain the love of Christ and give hope to those in despair and courage to those who are discouraged?

James 3:5 says, “The tongue is a small member, but it boasts in great things.” Just as a small stature can change the direction of a large boat, a single word can change a person's entire life.

Words have power. So God created the world with the word, and Jesus raised up many sick people with the word. More importantly, the words you spit out can affect others as well as entangle your own life with them. Therefore, negative words will lead our life negatively, but positive words will lead our life to hope. May the blessing of beautiful language be with us.

* Prayer: Heavenly Father, there have been many mistakes in our words. Put a watch on our lips, and let us use only beautiful words of encouragement and blessing. We want to glorify God through every word that comes out of our mouths. Help us to be virtuous to ourselves and lead us to live a blessed life with such beautiful words that save all people. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
