Title: Work hard on the little things
Title: Strive to Know the Truth (2 Peter 1:1-7)
The text here is a message that wants you to participate in the character of Jesus.
A person who believes in Jesus and has a personality like Jesus can be said to be the apostle Paul in the Bible.
4 They persecuted me and this city, even to death, bound men and women, and delivered them to prison 5 The high priest and all the elders were my servants. and brought him to the court to be punished.
I confess that such a person throws away the whole world like dust, and I die every day. In this way, Paul was transformed into the disposition of God when he threw away everything like dung. We hope that the work of being transformed into the character of God will come by striving to know the truth through the text.
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus.
It tells us to put more effort into knowing the truth of the Bible by knowing Jesus.
This means becoming partakers of God's disposition.
4 By this he has given us his precious and exceedingly great promise, that through this promise ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
This divine disposition is the word to imitate God's disposition.
So, what should we do to imitate God's disposition?
1) We must build up our faith.
5 “Therefore, be all the more diligent to build up your faith.”
It tells us to build up our faith. This is the word to practice the wisdom and goodness and power of faith.
Matthew 10:16 Behold, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves; therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
He tells you to come with wisdom like a serpent.
There are those who cannot edify themselves by emphasizing faith alone. But we must build up our faith. We must act wisely like snakes.
See the Apostle Paul edifying wisely
He tells the legalists that he is not a legalist, but acting like a legalist is to win the legalists.
We have to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. We see that there are things that cannot be edified because they only emphasize faith unconditionally and do not fit into the situation.
Look at Jacob. You don't know how wise Jacob is as a serpent.
Jacob exchanges the birthright from his brother for a bowl of porridge.
This means that Jacob's spiritual greed is as wise as a serpent. When it comes to spiritual matters, we must be as wise as serpents.
But when it comes to sin, you must be as innocent as a dove.
Joseph insists that Potiphar's wife sleep with him for several days at Potiphar's house, but his chastity keeps his faith and runs away from the woman's house. We must be pure before sin.
This is what builds up the virtue of faith.
Also, the virtue of faith is good. We must edify ourselves in good works.
Cornelius, the centurion of the army, was a man who helped many people. When he builds the virtue of faith, all his family will be saved.
Bill Gates is also a builder of many beliefs. The amount of money he gave back to the world cannot be counted.
Rockefeller also believed in Jesus and built the virtue of faith countless times, and even now, New York's water is being paid with Rockefeller's money.
I hope that we too will build up the virtue of faith so that the precious work of becoming wise and good will come.
2) You must build patience with temperance.
You must live a life of perseverance in a life of temperance.
“In knowledge, self-control, in self-control perseverance”.
God's character
James 1:3 For you know that the trial of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Work perseverance fully, so that you may be complete and complete, lacking in nothing.
The disposition of God is the disposition of perseverance.
Philippians 2:7 Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human form, 8 and being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of a cross.
The patience of Jesus. This patience is the character of the Lord. We want you to believe that we should imitate the character of the Lord.
Isaiah 53:3 He was despised, rejected by men, afflicted with sorrow, acquainted with suffering, and was despised, as men hid his face from him, and we did not esteem him.
The Lord will receive great grace from God after such patience.
Philippians 2:9 Therefore God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and with every mouth the name of Jesus Christ. He confessed that he is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Having the character of patience is the character of the Lord.
Look at Job's patience.
2Seven sons and three daughters were born to him. 3He owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys.
But one day, he loses all his children and property.. However, he does not blame God and perseveres in faith. 20He worshiped
Job 1:21 "I came out naked from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there; the LORD gave and the LORD took away; blessed be the name of the LORD." 22 In all these things Job committed sin. and did not grumble against God.
Looking at Job's patience, I hope that you will resemble the character of Jesus' patience.
This character of patience is the character of the Lord.
3) We must build love in friendship.
7 “Add Love to Brotherly Fellowship”
The character of Jesus is love. So, that attribute is found in the Bible, and if the Bible can be summed up in one word, it is love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God's love came to save the souls of all mankind.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 And thus was revealed the love of God to us, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Here is love, not that we loved God, but that God loved us to atone for our sins. He sent his son as a propitiation for
God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth in order to save mankind, was crucified, died and resurrected on the third day. I hope that we will be saved through this love and believe that even if we die, those who live and believe will never die and enjoy eternal life.
Therefore, I hope this Lord's character and love will be full.
We must put more effort into what we know with the truth of the Holy Spirit.
Knowing this truth is to imitate the character of the Lord.
I hope that all of us build up the character of God by building up our faith, persevering in temperance, and adding love to brotherly kindness, so that the perfected disposition of God will come.
