Text: Mark 13:1-37
How should God's children live in times of tribulation?
What is the essence of tribulation? - Falling!!!
Mark 2:2 Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another, but they will all be thrown down.
* This is a prophecy meaning that the temple in Jerusalem will be completely destroyed.
This prophecy prophesied that in 70 AD (after the resurrection of the Lord), the Temple of Jerusalem was completely destroyed by the Roman army led by General Titus. At this time, General Titus set fire to the temple, causing all the gold plating inside the temple to melt and flow into the cracks in the stones. As the Romans tore down all the temple stones to get the gold, the temple in Jerusalem was literally shattered, leaving no stone on top of it.
The Jerusalem temple means our body and mind that believes in Jesus as our Savior today.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
I need to know that I am a holy temple before God. All those who believe in Jesus as their Savior should never slander or criticize each other because they are a holy temple before God. Or, slandering or criticizing a neighbor is a terrible sin against God who called our body to the temple. When does the church revive? It is the time when the temple and the temples that have been called in the body are connected as one body and work together for good. Let's become one body thoroughly so that the spirit of division does not take advantage of cell meetings, family gatherings, worship meetings, and prayer meetings! Let's love each other!
* We must not forget that Christians also have a time of tribulation through the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple.
What kind of tribulation did Jesus foretell?
1. Rise of heretics (Verse 6 Many people came in my name, saying, “I am he…”)
2. Riots and riots (Section 7) - 911 terrorist incident, aircraft crash, ship sinking incident, genocide, homosexuality, human cloning, aliens, child abuse, gender reassignment surgery, environmental pollution, global warming, etc...
3. The three major plagues - war, earthquake, and famine (verse 8)
4. Cruel persecution of Christians (verse 9)
5. The appearance of false Christs and false prophets (v. 22)
How should Christians live in times of tribulation?
1. Beware (Careful verses 9, Awake: verses 33, 35, 37) - Intelligence
Acts 4:12 (Except Jesus) There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
1 John 2:22-23 Who is the liar, and not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He who denies the Father and the Son is the Antichrist. And there is no Father, but he who confesses the Son also has the Father.
1 John 4:2-3 By this you know the Spirit of God, that every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God, and this is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard the saying, “Come,” and now you are already in the world.
Separation is never difficult. Even if you know exactly the gospel of truth, you can simply know if it is a heresy or not. Why do you fall into heresy? If you do not have faith in the Word of God, but look and judge based on your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences, you are ultimately drawn to human affection and easily deceived by heresy.
Jesus said these words at the end of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
Therefore, whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock... When the rain falls, and the floods come, and the wind blows, and crashes against that house, it does not fall, because the foundation is laid on the rock... .
Why are people deceived by what is wrong, whether heresy or sectarian?
First, the spirit of delusion deceives people's hearts.
1 John 4:6 We are of God, and he who knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us; by this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of delusion.
2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this world, among them, blinds the minds of those who do not believe, so that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ cannot shine on them, for Christ is the image of God.
Second, it is because the soul is not born again of the Holy Spirit.
Third, it is because they are not armed with the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. That is, they do not know the word of God well.
Hos 4:6 My people perish for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you, that you may not be my priest; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.
2. God says do not be afraid in the time of trouble (verse 7) - It is an emotional choice not to be afraid.
What fears do modern people face? Wars, famines, earthquakes, economic depressions, worries about tomorrow...
When various fears come upon us, we need to know who the God we are holding on to is. must meditate
The Lord God of hosts has sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, to lead us to eternal life. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead to become the first fruits of the resurrection of the dead. Anyone who believes in Jesus, the Son of God, is given the power to become a child of God by grace. God has promised to provide the infinite power and power of the Holy Spirit to those who dwell in His Son Jesus. (Joel 2:28 After that, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions, and then I will pour out my Spirit upon the male and female servants. ...) When I'm afraid, when I'm worried, don't focus on the problem that bothers me, but focus on the bigger and greater God than the problem... Then your problem, your fear, will no longer appear big.
3. God tells us to endure in the time of tribulation (verse 13). - will
Have you seen the movie Thunder, starring actor Gam Woo-sung? Gam Woo-sung was brought up very strict under his father, an ethics teacher. No matter how hurried, the red traffic light never crossed. When there was a sign on the road telling you to run at 50 km, you only drove at 50 km, whether there was a car behind you or not. He was a perfect student. I was fired from my job because I followed the law so perfectly. People stayed away from Gam Woo-sung because he was so right. Even Christians, like Gam Woo-sung, will be bullied in the world if they live by the law of Jesus. But Jesus is positively in favor of being bullied for living according to Jesus' laws. Verse 13: “And you will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”
If you are reviled in the name of Christ (Jesus), you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, rests on you.
Earlier in 1 Peter 4:13, God said, “Rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may rejoice and rejoice when His glory is revealed.” It is a blessing. What is the Gospel of the Cross? It is a very happy news of salvation that cannot be betrayed even if people are persecuted and hated.
If you look at the practice process of Yuna Kim, who is treated as the queen of figure skating, it was a complete hell training. However, I endured and endured, thinking of the honor of being rewarded when I won the championship. When I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I couldn't stand it, I relieved my stress by singing and dancing. I don't know if Yuna Kim is a believer or not, but we can do it because a 19-year-old girl endured the pain and stood tall at the top of the world. Are you saying it's hard enough to die? you never die You are a child of God with the Holy Spirit. Endure tribulation and storms and achieve your dreams, stand tall at the top... Be sure that tribulation will make your life brighter.
There are some characteristic beliefs in those who endure tribulation.
First, we are always waiting for the Second Coming Jesus. (Text verses 26 and 27)
Jesus rose from the dead on the cross and ascended to heaven. But Jesus said in Acts 1:11, “This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come again in the same way you saw him go into heaven.” All Christians who were born again by the Holy Spirit of the Early Church always expected the Lord to come again in the midst of tribulation and persecution. To expect the Lord to come again means to have the hope of resurrection. When the sun goes down, people don't worry about whether the sun will rise tomorrow. Naturally, I think the sun will rise and go to bed comfortably. Likewise, Jesus will surely come again as promised. Those who live while embracing the Lord who will come again will endure afflictions and persecutions generously.
Second, those who endure well in tribulation and persecution are always filled with the Holy Spirit.
Being filled with the Holy Spirit means that the Holy Spirit of God takes full control of people's minds and hearts and leads them to live according to the will of God. So, in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we must kill our thoughts and plans and humbly pray before God. must repent I need to ask God to lead my life completely according to the will of God. Then, God pours out the Holy Spirit with the blood of Jesus on the cross to give us warmth, assurance of faith, passion, and joy to give us strength and strength to live abundantly in tribulation and persecution.
