Worship to see and worship to worship
John 4:21-24
2005. 2. 27, am
God is looking for those who worship Him. How do you find worshipers? We are looking for worshipers who worship in spirit and in truth. The best time in America was when President Clinton was recently. When I think of Clinton, I think of Lewinsky and I think of very bad things, but he lived his life best when he was president. The reason is that I kept the Sunday holy and worshiped well.
Our whole life is consistent with worship. Birth, 100 days, stone, entrance, graduation, engagement, marriage, one-gap, old age, death, admission, funeral, disembarkation, memorial service.... But, how do we worship well?
The famous Danish existentialist philosopher Keelkegol, in his book 『Worship of Watching and Worship』, compared theater and worship, and said that there is worship like an actor and worship like an audience. We must do our worship.
However, there are many cases where people are satisfied with the worship service they see without attending the worship service. That is why worship is often not worshiped. Kielkegol had an interesting remark about it. What is the difference between worship service and worship service, and he explained the difference as follows. “Worship by watching is worship in which we become spectators and God becomes actors, whereas worship in worship is worship in which God becomes the audience and we become actors,” he said. So, in order for us to worship, we must all return to the actor's attitude with the heart of an actor. So what do we offer in worship?
First, we give our time.
In fact, who gave this ‘time’? Are you not God? Therefore, it should be written for God. In Ephesians 5, it says, “Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as the unwise, but as the wise, saving time, for the days are evil” (verses 15, 16). So we need to save time and use it wisely. However, as for how to use your time wisely, please believe that giving to God is the best use of your time.
Second, worship is the offering of our bodies.
There is no worship without the body. So, worship is the offering of our bodies as well as our time. Our bodies are not ours. It is of God. In 1 Corinthians 6, it says, “Our bodies are not ours, but have been bought with a price.” That is why we said, “We must glorify God with our bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
That's right. Our bodies are not ours. It is of God. So we have to glorify God with our bodies, and the specific way to do that is to worship. That's why Romans 12:1 says, "Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God."
So, what does the phrase “giving our bodies” mean? It doesn't mean that we need only the body, but that all the members of the body must be dedicated to God.
Third, worship is the giving of our hearts. The body may be there, but the mind may be elsewhere. But worship is a time to give our hearts as well as our bodies. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength” (Mark 12:30).
Fourth, worship is an offering of our material.
Wherever our body and mind go, there is always something that follows, which is material. There is a body and a mind, but no matter, that doesn't make sense. You all came to worship today, but it must have cost money. We must give up the idea of worshiping without money.
In 2 Samuel 24, we see the story of David offering sacrifices to God. He had to offer the burnt offering that God had commanded at the threshing floor of Araunah in order to stop the plague that had been severely hit on the land due to his own fault. Then Araunah looked and saw the king coming toward him, and went out and bowed before the king with his face to the ground, saying, “Why is my lord the king coming to your servant?” I will offer all the cattle and firewood I have to the king, so I will offer sacrifices to my heart's content. At that time, David said something. “No. I will buy from you at a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God without cost.” Then he gave him fifty shekels of silver to buy a threshing floor and cattle, and there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
Then the Lord heard prayers for the land, and the plagues on Israel ceased. We, who worship God, should not even think about worshiping freely. Worship is an offering to God, and there is a worship service to see and a worship service to worship.
It is often said, "I'm going to worship," but if you compare the play and worship, there is a worship service that looks like an actor and a worship service that looks like an audience. Strictly speaking, worship is worship. It is only God who sees worship. It is like saying that if you go to worship, you will become God. Do not worship like an audience, but worship like an actor successfully.
Therefore, in order to worship like an actor well, you must have 8 postures.
1. Absence ban: Just as a play cannot be played if an actor is absent, the worshiper must not be absent.
Conflict over contract between production company and actor... Cancellation of concert - what happened on the 23rd
The musical 'Broadway 42nd Street', which is being performed for a long time at the Jeongdong Popcorn House, was in conflict with the lead actor over a contract issue, and the performance was canceled and the audience protested for a refund.
Accordingly, the situation is expected to be prolonged, with both the production company and the actor's agency reviewing legal action such as a lawsuit for damages due to contract breach.
▲ Event progress = Before the performance, Act One, the management company of the male lead actor Kim Beop-rae, had an argument with the production company over the contractual fee.
Director Jo Min of the production company public said, "Act One asked for unpaid performance fees and informed me that if it was not paid, I would not be able to stand.
For this reason, about 800 spectators who came to see the performance waited for over 3 hours to demand an explanation from the production company, and after 10 pm, they were promised a full refund and returned.
2. Prohibition of lateness: It is a problem if worshipers who worship in spirit and truth do not keep the time.
Ex) A church next to the court in Busan A wedding without a priest - Start when the time comes
3. Prohibition of Drowsiness: Just as a play does not work when an actor sleeps, good worship does not work when a worshiper sleeps.
4. Prohibition of early departure: If an actor leaves in the middle of a play, the play will not work.
When a worshiper leaves early, it means giving up the worship service. In particular, you must receive a blessing. A benediction is when the worshiper declares a blessing.
Ex) 28 out of the 40 largest conglomerates in the United States are Jews, and 93 out of 390 Nobel Prize winners are Jews.
* Baegui-ri front unit church with Ilhui / 14 US troops with 28 employees are Christians.
* There are 99 verses of the Chinese hymn, so it takes 40 minutes each time, but if you say, "It's so gracious, let's sing it again" for 80 minutes, and the worship service lasts for over 3 hours, but it does not move.
5. The actor must have a good grasp of the play script. Worshipers must know the contents and order of worship and do their best with sincerity.
* There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to understand what you are saying. A woman who is terrified because she thinks it is a grave because it is said to be "a woman like oxygen"
* Foreigners in the Philippines
6. Actors don't dress casually.
Worshipers should wear polite attire, neat and clean clothes.
This is a story of a girl who wears clothes that men don't see twice, because God looks at the heart.
7. Learners only do practiced actions. If an actor acts as he pleases, it's a mess.
Worshipers also need to do it properly when they pray, sing, stand up, pray in voice, and say Amen.
Ex) Diarrhea that ruined the play - Plug in a pin mic and go to the cremation ... Do not go back and forth during worship.
8. Actors do their best to satisfy the audience.
Worshipers must glorify God with all their spirit and truth. It should be worship with all sincerity and utmost effort.
We also hope that we will worship Jesus consciously of Jesus who is in our midst this year and for the rest of our lives to come. In that way, I hope that Jesus will become the audience and we will become the worshipers of the holy actors.
