Text: Genesis 4:25 ~ 5:3
Subject: Wow! She learns the will of God.
[Genesis 4:25, Rev.] “Adam slept with his wife again, and she bore him a son, and he called his name Seth, because God
This is because he has given me another seed in place of Abel, whom Cain killed.”
[Genesis 4:26, Rev.] “Set also gave birth to a son, and he called his name Enosh, and at that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.
I said”
Have you ever lost something? If the lost is not precious, we can just pass the moment casually. But if it is very precious, our lives will become chaotic and our appearance will change irrationally and poorly. Especially when it comes to the loss of children. I went to a wedding with my wife a few years ago. I remember that Sung-chan was probably 3-4 years old. While I was watching the ceremony, I remember Sungchan disappearing and looking for about 20 minutes in and out of the wedding hall. It was really dark in front of my eyes and I was completely restless. I saw my wife and I become chaotic, irrational, as I said at a time when it should be really fun. And even the people around us were nervous about our family and saw the joy of the ceremony disappear for a while.
The “event of Cain and Abel” we saw last week must have brought more shock and disorder to Adam and Eve's home than our own experience. Although it is not shown in detail in the Bible, Eve must have fainted, and Adam must have been frantic with his wife in his arms. Both couples must have gone crazy. It would not have been a normal home.
The foundation of life that God has given to the two couples must have been on the verge of collapse. Due to the so-called “depression” these days, the couple seemed indifferent to each other and did not comfort each other. If I had gone further, the depression could have made me even contemplate suicide. You could have said something like this! “What sin have I committed in my life that this has happened to my family?” This is the conclusion of Genesis 4.
As “the perfect image of God” (Imago dei) begins to break, sin becomes our most fruitful crop. Even though the produce is not what God wants, we continue to accumulate sin as produce. At home, at church, in society, in all areas of us... … .
The fruits of such sin are again paid the price of death and slaughter. This is the same principle of the world that when a seed is planted, it sprouts, a branch grows, and bears fruit. The Bible says that “sin” matures.
【James 1:15, Revised】 “When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”
When I look at God's Word, meditate deeply, and reflect on myself in the light of the Word, I often wonder how the world works like the Word. So you will fear God. This enables us to make a confession like the psalmist. Thank God.
[Psalm 111:4, New Translation] “He caused people to remember the wonders he had done, for the Lord is gracious and merciful.
All."
The word before the text we read today [Genesis 4:16-24] depicts God's word that when sin matures, it brings forth death [death]. And the cause is shown in 4:16. It represents all aspects of life in which we live “apart from the presence of the Lord”.
The saints who leave the presence of the Lord and the saints who keep before the Lord
① The word “before the Lord” is a very important word in the Bible.
② The Bible uses the word “before the Lord” too many times to overlook.
③ This has the same meaning as the “Voice of the Lord vs. the Voice of Sinners” of last week's sermon.
④ By the way, when you read Genesis 4, do you feel a little strange scene coming out?
⑤ This is when Cain leaves her parents.
⑥ Of course, God said that Cain would become “a wanderer,” but
