Title: Yahweh, My Strength

Contents

O LORD my strength

Psalm 18:1-6

David lived a tumultuous life.

The extreme hardship, tribulation, and crisis of death that David suffered from his enemies are well expressed in verses 4-5 of the text.

“The cords of death, the floodgates of iniquity, the cords of Hades, the snare of death, these things bind me,

In the expression David's affliction in the expression of 'encircled, frightened, and even came to me'

You can imagine the difficulties.

Death was imminent.

But he was not discouraged. Rather, it is praised.

"O LORD, my strength

Yahweh is my rock

You are my fortress and my deliverer

you are my God

You are my rock of refuge and my shield

You are the horn of my salvation

You are my fortress." (1-2)

This psalm is David's great confession of faith.

This confession was the driving force and driving force that moved his life.

So this confession of faith is what made David great.

A person whose strength is God, this person is a person with infinite potential.

Those who live by the strength God gives them will live a life in which power springs forth.

that can be bought.

1. The power of Jehovah is the power to overcome

Human power is limited.

There are many things in the world that I cannot overcome with my own strength no matter how hard I try.

Therefore, humans must have the power of Jehovah God.

Even if we fail the same, even if we suffer the same sorrow, even if we suffer the same injustice,

True believers, who know that God is their strength, conquer them and enjoy a life of victory.

Who is the most powerful person in the world?

He is with God.

David boldly shouts to General Goliath, who is nine feet tall.

“You come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I am the name of the LORD of hosts,

I come to you in the name of God (1 Samuel 17:45)."

Where did this boldness come from?

You can overcome the enemies of the world not by force, but by the power of God.

It comes from the belief that

Only the strength of Jehovah of hosts can win.

“The Lord is on my side; I have no fear.

What can a man do to you?" (Psalm 118:6)

Be the saints that God loves.

You will receive the grace of God, an absolute strength that the world cannot surpass.

The blessing of overcoming and enjoying with the strength God gives is nothing in the world.

Can't stop.

May this grace be in you, I bless you in the name of the Lord.

2. The power to preserve life

In those days, it was not difficult for a king to kill a poor man.

However, King Saul could not do anything about King David.

How many times did King Saul try to kill David?

If you send them out to the battlefield to die, you won't die, but you will win a great victory.

Even if I tried to kill by throwing a spear, even if I sent an assassin to kill

Have you all failed?

Not only that, He always protected me during the 10 years of being driven into the wilderness.

In the end, David, whom King Saul wanted to kill, lives in glory,

Saul died miserably (2 Samuel 1).

Why?

It is because the God who loved David became the strength to preserve his life.

Everyone!

Those whom God loves, no matter what harm they suffer, will they be preserved.

Those who afflict those whom God loves will ultimately lead to their own death.

God gives the righteous the power of the devil (Hebrews 2:14, 15), tribulation (2 Samuel 4:9),

He is the one who saves us from the attacks of our enemies (Exodus 14:13).

God is a rock in which we take refuge (Psalm 71:3),

He is an eternal rock to those who trust in him, to judge his enemies and to retreat.

(Psalm 32:31).

Therefore, those who receive God's love and love God, even if the earth changes,

Whether the mountain shakes and falls into the sea, or the sea roams violently,

Even if it overflows and the mountains shake, we are not afraid (Psalm 46:2,3).

“Our souls long for the Lord; he is our help and our shield” (Psalm 33:20).

Therefore, we must love God with all our body, mind, and character.

We must praise and serve.

Do you feel that the difficulties you are facing are the worst and the most irresistible?

Am I in an extreme situation where my life is threatened?

At times like this, material and power seem to be the means and method to save me.

But they are nothing in the historical and existential moment when death is imminent.

can't do it for us.

David suffered the excruciating pain that had come upon him in the world, in an artificial way.

didn't solve it.

They only held on to Jehovah God.

I believe that God has protected and protected him.

Even we, who are in a rapidly changing and chaotic situation, depend on the Holy Spirit to lead our lives.

I pray that you will become believers who completely entrust yourself to God.

3. The power to do good

David could have killed King Saul any number of times in the cave of En-gedi.

Nevertheless, only the hem of the outer garment was slightly cut (1 Samuel 24:4).

Loving your enemies is not something everyone can do.

Unless it is God-given power, it is absolutely not possible with human strength.

Man never has any intentions before his death without the power given by God.

They are beings who cannot lead.

No matter how much I try to do good, it is the essence of human beings.

No matter how much I pray to live a good life according to my will, I can't stand it if the other person behaves badly.

there will be no

But I can't stand it, but God is my strength and makes me good

You can do it.

Stephen was stoned to death, and he stoned himself to death.

was able to forgive others (Acts 7:58 ~ 60),

Because God gave him the power of forgiving love.

Everyone!

Stay in God's love. wins and preserves life,

He will make it possible for you to do good.

So how did David get this strength?

* Verse 1, I gained strength when I loved God.

“O LORD, my strength, I love you” (Psalm 18:1).

If there is one most terrifying power in this world, it is the power of love.

When you love money, you draw strength from it.

When you love someone, you draw strength from them.

When parents love their children, seeing them gives them strength.

But those who love God see God and gain strength.

Such a person will not lose strength under any circumstances if they only look to God.

That God is the same yesterday, today, and forever

Because he is alive.

Those who love the world are bound to lose their strength when faced with difficulties.

It's gone, so how can you get stronger?

* Verse 3, I got strength by singing to God.

"I will call on the LORD, who is praised, and I will be saved from my enemies.

To be praised Jehovah means that the purpose of life belongs to God.

It just means giving glory to God.

No matter what hardships there may be, praise must be received by God.

No matter what hardships you may have, God must receive praise through me.

means to do it.

For those whose worldly honor is glory, money is glory, and position is glory, this is

When it's gone, "how do you do it?" is discouraged.

On the other hand, those who glorify God are discouraged or

Don't be discouraged.

There is always strength in those who set their whole purpose in life to glorify God.

Every time I look to God, new strength springs up. Singing gives you strength

soars.

Why did David go to kill Goliath?

David went out to give all glory to God.

All battles depend not on swords and spears and the number of armies, but on God.

To Goliath to show the facts and give all the glory to God

went out

So he went out in the name of the Lord of hosts.

In other words, "O LORD, my strength! I love you."

I went singing hymns.

So he became a great winner.

* Verse 6, I got strength by praying to God.

“I cried out to the LORD in my trouble, and cried out to my God, and he

He has heard my voice from his temple; my cry before him has reached his ears.

I heard it."

This means that David prayed earnestly to God.

It means that you have received new strength from God through prayer.

We, too, should pray when we are in need.

When adversity comes and tribulation comes in life, the one thing we need to do is pray.

work. When you pray, God gives you new strength.

God is on my side and God is my strength.

So you make it a source of blessing.

But why don't we pray?

Because our souls are broken or our faith is dead.

So I stop praying.

Even today, those who do not pray are those who think that God is dead.

Martin Luther, the Reformer, said, “My Lord is a mighty city, a shield and an armour.

He will rescue us from our troubles and bring us out.”

He goes forward singing this hymn.

Truly, the courage and spirit of faith filled the heavens.

He always promoted the Reformation through prayer and praise.

When you pray, God gives you new strength and is on your side.

He solves problems and answers them.

God makes me the hero of blessing and the hero of victory.

I wish all of us to be the protagonists of victory. Amen.
