Title: You Are My Help

Contents

title ; you are my help

main text ; Psalm 115:9-11

Living here in Canada, I hear the word “helper” a lot.

And there are many people who immigrated to Canada and lived as helpers, and there are also many people who worked as helpers.

From the owner's point of view, when using a helper, it is probably rare for an owner to think, "It feels very good to use that person as a helper." Most owners say, "I can't do this, so I use a helper. If I don't use a helper, I'll fall over."

Furthermore, some owners will try to kick the helper out of the way because they are offended by the use of the helper, reducing the time allocated to them, or because of personal insults. The reason is probably because they thought that the helpers did not do their job properly.

As you all know, most of the people who immigrate to foreign lands here have a very strong sense of independence. As a result, there are many people who can confidently live in a foreign land without much or much help from others.

For me, when I see such people, I get the admiration of "Hey, that's great!" and think, "If it were me, I probably wouldn't have lived in this foreign land!

However, no matter how independent and unwilling to seek help from others, living in a foreign land may sometimes require help from others.

And when I receive such help from a foreign land, I unknowingly say, "Thank you very much!" or "Thanks a lot!" Or, in a rather difficult language, he writes, "I appreciate you!"

Everyone, I want to ask you. Who has helped you the most here in Canada?

Those who say, "Yes, of course she is my wife. I am always grateful to my wife," seem to be quite familiar with the Canadian culture here or a fairly new generation of husbands. And the husband who answers this way will not at least be in a position to eat cold rice.

However, in the old days, Korean husbands tend to shout loudly and show dignity even when their wives sacrifice their bones to support their husbands.

Furthermore, if a hot table is not served on time, there are many people who behave in such a way that it is embarrassing to look at from the side, just like a master scolding a servant.

Biblically, God took Adam's rib and said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper matchmaker" (Genesis 2:18).

Helper here means helper in English. That is why it seems that wives have an innate gift to help their husbands.

However, when I eat with male members, I am very blunt, and there are many cases where I serve meals. It seems like the church would be very bleak without women's helping hands.

And how desolate would be if there were no helping hands in this foreign land, not just women's helping hands?

But thankfully, Canadians here seem to have a very good helping culture and character. If your car breaks down on the road and you are in trouble, many people come and say "What happened?" and are very active in helping you.

And there are people who bravely try to help, but when they can't help because they lack the skills, they say, "I am sorry!" If it's the situation in Korea, "Hey, why are you dragging the × car out and making many people suffer?" You can often see people swearing and swearing.

Guys, I want to ask you one more time. Do you want to be a helper or a cold person who never helps?

Of course, you and I will want to help others as much as we can. Besides, isn't it nice to see Koreans helping Koreans here in foreign land?

And don't you think it's natural for a believer to help a believer? However, the reality does not seem to be necessarily the case.

There are times when the heart is willing, but the body is weak or the environment is not good. And there are times when the person helping you does more harm than good.

Everyone, have you ever experienced harm while expecting help from others? What did you look like at that time?

"Hey, what are you asking about that? Of course I'm angry!" If there are people who say, "Rejoice always, give thanks in everything," don't you think that such an appearance is a bit far from God's words, "Rejoice always. Give thanks in everything."

In other words, isn't it the right attitude of a believer to not openly complain that others do not help me and to seek God who helps me most perfectly?

So, when we pray, don't we pray to God for help instead of asking people for help?

Guys, I'm thinking about this these days. "If God hadn't helped me, what would I have been like? Ugh, the thought of it is terrible!" In Psalm 94:17, the psalmist confesses:

"If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would already be in silence."

Moreover, in this foreign land, without God's help, the driving related to me would have been destroyed. But fortunately and thankfully, God has helped me and you.

The psalmist confesses in Psalm 63:6-7: “I will remember you in my bed, and in the night I meditate on you, for you have been my help.”

Everyone, I want to ask you. Who is really helping you in this foreign land? If you confess to this question, "My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth" (Psalm 121:2) and rely on God, then you are a good saint.

Ladies and gentlemen, God has helped us before, is helping us now, and wants to help us in the future. God has definitely made a promise to us.

“I will help you, yea, I will help you” (Isaiah 41:10, 13).

Folks, we need God's help.

Some may say, "I don't need God's help. Asking God for help is a servile act of the weak-willed." But the Bible doesn't say that.

Rather, the Bible says: “Blessed is he who makes the God of Jacob his help, and whose hope is in the Lord God” (Psalm 146:5).

“O Israel, trust in the Lord. He is your help. House of Aaron, trust in the Lord. He is your help. You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord. He is your help. (Psalm 115:9-11) )

Everyone, don't forget. God is your help and me.

God is the help of our family and our church.

He is the one who helps us most perfectly in our life on this earth.

So let's cry out like this. “The Lord thinks of me; you are my help” (Psalm 4017).
