Title: You Are the Salt of the World
Contents Through the Beatitudes, Jesus shows that the beatitudes of Christians are in character rather than possessions. It is said that it is the true blessing for those who have received God's blessing to inherit the inheritance of God's children, free from their sins, transgressions and terrible guilt. He shows us how these blessed children should live in this world. The saints live and work in the world. It is that children of God must proclaim their person and the glory of God in their life and work (work). In particular, let's talk about the attitude that believers who are being redeemed should be wary of when living in the world.
1) Secularism. 2) This is secular escapism.
3) Don't be a syncretist. 4) You must be an evangelical.
Secularism refers to those who live in the world. Secular escapism is an attitude of inflamed and avoiding the evil world. This hermitism is not a Christian worldview. And the idea of living in an appropriate mixture of the world and faith is also wrong. We must be genuine. And by living in contact with the world, sanctifying yourself, you must become a person who paints (conquers) the world with the gospel God has given you. We must become beings who fill the canvas of the world with the blood of Jesus. We are the ones sent into the world.
1. The position of saints in the world.
Believers must protect themselves like salt in the world and carry out their mission as God's senders in the world. In John 17: Jesus prayed not to take them out of the world, but that they would be preserved from the evil one, and then said that just as the Father sent me into the world, so I am sending them into the world. One refers to the preservation of saints in the world. And one reminds us that they are sent servants of the Lord. Romans 12:2: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and acceptable and perfect. Salt in the Bible
1) Used for food (Job 6:6)
2) It was used for sacrifices. (Leviticus 2:13)
3) When a child is born (Ezekiel 16:4)
4) It was used as a sign of destruction (Genesis 19:26).
2. The role of salt and the mission of the saints.
1) Salt prevents rot.
Judea is a hot place. In those days, there were no refrigerators. Therefore, there are many foods that are mainly salted. Salt does not rot. And it melts itself, preventing corruption. In particular, there are too many errors regarding the role of Christians in Korean society. We cannot keep the holiness of the saints. And I was supposed to make the world clean, warm, and useful, but I couldn't live like that.
2) Taste.
Salt is what dissolves and gives the food its flavor. Like herbs, meat helps to taste meat. Salt should be in any food. No matter how good and expensive food is, it is not fun if the seasoning is not right. You have to sacrifice yourself to taste it. But today, salts don't want to melt. It has already lost its taste. It is a tragedy in the world if the saints rot and lose their taste.
3) Salt softens the atmosphere.
When housewives wrap their cabbages in the market and make kimchi, they trim them and pickle them in salt for a while. After a while, the cabbage becomes very soft. So it moves according to the hand of the housewife.
Saints make the world look bright and beautiful. When the saint enters, it gives softness, lightness, and beauty to the couple, the company, or the neighbors.
Especially in Israel, farmers sometimes use salt when sowing seeds. If you sprinkle the salt with the seeds, the salt will melt and the soil will become soft. So it softens the stone-like land of Palestine so that new shoots can grow. We must go into this world with the gospel so that the gospel will sprout and grow and bear fruit. .The salt must not swell. You should not stretch.
The Apostle Paul told you to salt your horses. They were told to have taste in words / purity in words / truthfulness in words. Let's be saints who have fun in words and benefits in words.
4) Makes you feel thirsty.
If you eat a lot of salt, you will feel thirsty. So I keep drinking water. Wherever the salt of Jesus goes, you must feel the thirst for Jesus. You must have the charm of coming to God because you want to believe in Jesus through the life and service of the saints. If you are like you, I must not make a neighbor who does not believe in Jesus. Jesus made Nicodemus thirst for being born again. Jesus made the Samaritan woman feel thirsty for faith.
5) Salt is indispensable.
Salt is also used for health. In ancient China, when a very vicious person was killed in a disgraceful manner, no salt was added to the food, resulting in death due to lack of salt. The king of Persia tested his love for his daughters. How do you love me? I asked you to express the degree of love. The eldest daughter loves more than gold. The second is more precious than silver, and the youngest father said, ?쏧 will love you like salt.??The king thought he loved me like ordinary salt. He was very upset. When the chef prepares the food the next morning, it is beautifully served without any salt. When the king ate it, it looked good, but he couldn't eat any food without salt. I called the cook and scolded him loudly. At this time, my lord, last night the youngest princess said that salt loves the great king, and how precious it is. Salt has little value and is commonplace, so you don't know how precious it is.
3. Characteristics of salt
1) Autonomy.
Salt dissolves on its own. The master knows how to use himself lavishly by choosing the right time without requiring orders.
2) You are a contributor.
Salt has a great effect with a small amount. There are some people, but a lot of mana. There are a lot of people who have a headache. The salt on that beach is 0.3-0.4%. However, it prevents the corruption of the sea and brings the mystery and richness of the sea. That is why we enrich our tables and nourish the human economy.
3) It is incidental.
Salt has no meaning by itself. Salt goes into other substances.
4) It does not change.
In the Jewish nation, trustworthy people who remain faithful yesterday and today are called salt-like people. God's promises are true. And it doesn't change. This is expressed as the salt of the covenant.
4. Salt that has lost its taste
dump it on the roadside. So that's what people walk on. In Judea, it was dumped by the roadside so that it did not get dusty. To be ignored/to be trampled by the gods of the world. Jesus told us that you are like salt. It's not that valuable or expensive. You are a necessary person. Let's become a clean being/ a necessary being/ a useful being/ a being that brings the gospel to fruition.
