You must be holy to be blessed
1 Corinthians 3:16-18 '16.' Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17. If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. The temple is holy, and so are you. 18. Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this world, let him be a fool, and then he may become wise.' - Amen.
The Hebrew word for holiness, 'kodesh', means 'to cut off, to separate' and refers to 'the state of being separated from uncleanness'. The God who chose Israel in the Old Testament times left Israel,
Deuteronomy 14:2 “You are a holy people of the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you from all the peoples of the earth and made you a people for his inheritance.”
Leviticus 11:45 “I am the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; be holy, for I am holy.”
The same is true in New Testament times. God manages us who believe in Jesus to be set apart as holy ones. The Bible is a holy book, and you will truly be blessed when you live as a holy person.
1. Holiness must be the constitution of the saints
A holy person is called a saint in Chinese. Being a Christian does not make our character perfect, but God calls those who believe in Jesus Christ a holy people, so we are the ones who have been proclaimed to be God's righteous people.
Text, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 'Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17. If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, and so are you.'
The concept of the temple in the New Testament era was different from the Old Testament. Just as the salvation of the Old Testament was fleshly, the temple was also visible, but now in Christ everything has been renewed and spiritually reformed. Instead of the visible temple, those who are called to be saints are called the temple. It is correct that the place where we worship now is a chapel.
The life of a believer is very careful, because God now wants the existence of the saints to be displayed to the world as God's holy temple.
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 '7. For it is not to defile us that God calls us, but to sanctify us. 8. Therefore, he who rejects us does not reject man, but God, who has given you his Holy Spirit.”
Therefore, the life of the saints should be very modest and godliness should be the basic. He wants us to act like God's house.
2. How to be holy
Holiness does not come from human wisdom or the spirit of goodness that can reach God. It is impossible for human beings who started with the root of sinful nature to be realized only in the will of God.
Text, 1 Corinthians 3:18 "Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this world, let him be a fool, and then he will become wise."
The concept of holiness is the nature of God and is based on the Word of God.
Isaiah 6:3 "They called to one another, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD of hosts, full of his glory is the whole earth."
John 17:17-19 '17 Sanctify them in the truth, for your word is truth, 18. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world; 19 and for their sake I sanctify myself, for they also that you may be sanctified by the truth.'
3. Blessings to the Holy One
At the beginning of John 15, in the parable of the vine, He spoke of the fruit of the saints, that is, the fundamentals of receiving blessings.
John 16:2-3 '2. Every branch attached to me that does not bear fruit, the Father removes it, and every branch that bears fruit He purifies so that it may bear more fruit. 3. You have already been cleansed by the words I have spoken to you.'
Belief, belief However, there are many people who misunderstand belief as belief. Real faith is Mark 1:15 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.'
In fact, the life of a saint is looking at the maturation of holiness. In theological terms, this is called the life of sanctification. Depending on the level of your holy life, it tells you the level of your glory when you live in heaven.
According to the Bible, it is a reward. In 1 Corinthians 15, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the glory of the stars are compared.
It is said that the sermons of early Christian worship in the past were almost repentance sermons. As brothers and sisters in Christ, they did not hesitate to commit great sins before the congregation and repented. Repentance is also the secret to being blessed.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 'This is the will of God, your holiness...'
If you repent, become sanctified in heart, and have moderation and distinction in your life, God's work will surely appear immediately. Knowing that a holy life is the secret to being blessed, and not trying to make it visible, I pray that you will be able to endure with all your might and receive grace and miracles to be separated from sin.
