In the Israeli calendar, July includes the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. These two feasts were very different from each other. One is the feast of blowing the trump of victory, and the other is the feast of atonement and repentance. Why are the two feasts side by side in the Bible?
1. The day when God's trumpet sounds
At that time, July was counted as the first month of the new year, and the Jubilee year also began in July (Leviticus 25:8). Therefore, July 1 was also called the Feast of Trumpets because the trumpets sounded all day long. When the trumpet sounded, the people gathered for a holy meeting and rested. By sounding the trumpet on New Year's Day, he banished all spiritual drowsiness, waking up and starting the year again, and re-examining his path. The trumpet also symbolizes restoration and victory. As you advance on the battlefield, or as you win and improve, the trumpet is always sounded. Even on the last day when Jesus comes again, the sound of God's trumpet will sound throughout the world. Please wake up like the Israelites who celebrated the Feast of Trumpets and become saints who are not ashamed when the Lord comes.
2. The day you torment yourself
The tenth day of July in Israel was the Day of Atonement. On the Day of Atonement, a more thorough sabbath was to be taken. Because it is a day of reconciliation for sinners. In order to be reconciled to God, we must stop everything and focus only on God. Because it is very important for sinners to receive forgiveness for their sins. The Day of Atonement is the day when we turn away from the voices of the world and listen only to the voice of God. Also, on this day, I had to cut off all the pleasures of the world, mourn over my sins, and suffer myself. It was heartbreaking to see the animals lose their lives because of their sins. Therefore, fasting and prayer were always followed on the Day of Atonement. There is no shame in mourning over sin. Rather, God's blessings come to those who groan and mourn for themselves.
3. Victory begins with mourning
July begins with the Feast of Trumpets and continues with the Day of Atonement. God did not give us the Day of Atonement so that we could live with low self-esteem. He instituted the Day of Atonement to forgive sins and bring us closer to God. God gives victory in the last days to those who mourn for their sins and repent, but He gives destruction to those who are proud who cannot grieve for their sins. A person who realizes that he is a sinner turns to God. Victory does not belong to man. True victory, eternal victory, belongs only to God. So God instituted the Feast of Trumpets to proclaim victory in the first month of the nation of Israel, and a few days later made the Day of Atonement for all the people to repent. Please remember that there is victory when you mourn and repent of all your sins.
A person who is desperate to cover up his faults can never be a winner. Only those who acknowledge that they are sinners and rely on God will be the real winners. On the day when God blows the trumpet of victory, I hope that you will look back on yourself so that you can stand before Him with joy and become a person of perfect faith that forgives your sins.
