Title: You will have tribulation, but be courageous

Have tribulation, but be courageous

Chapters 14 to 16 of the Gospel of John record Jesus' last farewell sermon before his crucifixion, and the conclusion is the text.

In this verse, Jesus' command to his disciples is as follows:

1. In the world, the saints also suffer tribulation.

Being a saint does not mean that you are avoiding tribulation.

God is fair.

So, although he gives sunlight and rain, he gives them equally to all (Matthew 5:45).

Judge all the world with the scales of justice (Psalm 45:5),

Even today, he rules the world with the hand of justice (Psalm 96:10).

A saint cannot be an exception to this kind of tribulation.

Why do believers suffer in the world?

1) Because they are God's chosen people (see John 15:18-19).

Because believers believe in Jesus, they will be persecuted more by the world, and they may experience greater difficulties because of various things that cannot be compromised with the world.

2 Timothy 3:12 Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

But if it is to the glory of God, we should be willing to be ostracized. This is faith.

2) To nurture the qualities of the people of heaven.

We have already been saved and have become the people of Heaven.

However, he is still an imperfect being who lives with unbelievers.

That is, the salvation that has been granted to us has not been completed.

That is why God allows tribulation so that we may grow to the full size of the Lord.

Suffering brings us closer to God,

make us pure as gold in spirit,

Makes you more dependent on the Lord.

That is why Jesus told His disciples not to be afraid because He knew the tribulation and persecution that would come upon His disciples after His death. The tribulation and trials experienced by the saints are greater and not less than the tribulations experienced by the people of the world. But there is never any need to tremble or be afraid because of the tribulation.

Because the Lord said I have overcome the world.

Although Jesus suffered trials and tribulations until he died on the cross, on the contrary, he raised the banner of victory through that cross. He did not end with death, but was resurrected on the third day. The Lord has overcome the world.

2. When we face tribulation, we should rather be thankful saints.

The tribulation experienced by the saints is, on the contrary, the gateway to blessing.

Abraham - met with the great tribulation of offering his only son Isaac as a sacrifice to God, he did not complain and obeyed with thanksgiving. At that time, He gave the blessing [Jehovah Reh] had prepared, and promised the wonderful blessing that all peoples under the world will be blessed through the seed of Abraham. Because he passed through the tunnel of tribulation with thanksgiving.

Also, Joseph, who became the prime minister of Egypt at the age of 30 and saved Israel from famine, also passed through the gates of tribulation. He had to be hated and envied by his brothers, had to be sold as a slave to an unknown land in Egypt, and even suffered tribulation of being framed and imprisoned. But Joseph did not complain or complain. Rather, believing that there is God's providence and deep will in the tribulation, he passed through the tunnel of trial with silent gratitude.

However, the Israelites who had left Egypt complained and complained to a very disgusting level in a barren tunnel called the wilderness. They complained against Moses and blamed God, saying that there was no water, no meat, and that my office was not worth it. Then what happened in the end? They could not enter the Promised Land and all died in the wilderness.

That is why 1 Corinthians 10:10 says, "Do not grumble like them, for some of them grumbled and perished with the destroyer."

It is God's will to give thanks in everything.

No matter what happens, no matter what happens, be a person of gratitude.

Romans 5:3 4/ Not only that, but we also rejoice in tribulation, for tribulation requires patience; It is said that perseverance is the knowledge that refinement and refinement achieve hope.

Have a vision in the state. Keep your dreams and hopes

Even if we die, the hope of living again is in Jesus.

3. Any kind of tribulation can be overcome if you have faith.

Although Joseph was hated by his brothers and fell into a pit, sold as a slave, and imprisoned for falsehood, in the midst of the tribulation, Joseph did not resent his brothers, did not compromise with sin, accepted the circumstances as it was, and was loyal only to the task given to him. did. Because he had faith in God. Because he had a dream and a vision that the sun, moon, and eleven stars would bow down to him. It was a dream given by God, and it was trust in God that kept that dream until the end. God blessed this Joseph that he prospered in all things.

David is also a representative person who triumphed through faith.

The probability that Goliath will be killed by a stone thrown by David is less than 1 in 10,000.

However, he violently slammed Goliath with a stone, and the stone knocked down Goliath. What lessons do we learn from this? What was the secret to David's victory?

1 Samuel 17:45 You come to me with sword and spear and javelin,

I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have insulted.

The secret of David's victory is his trust in God.

How do we overcome the world?

First, because God is with us (verse 32).

Second, because we enjoy the peace of God (verse 33).

Third, it is because they look forward to salvation even in the midst of tribulation (verse 33b).

Christian peace is not peace without tribulation or difficulties.

It is the peace that overcomes tribulation or difficulties.

Fear not evil, though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

Because the Lord's staff and staff comfort us.
