you will prosper
Joshua 1:7-9
Hyundai Group Chairman Ju-Young Chung, when he was young, rejected his father’s will to “become a farmer” and ran away from home. I got on a ferry with no pay, and then said, “Why did a guy with no money get on a boat!” A flash of light flashed from his eyes in an instant. “Are you sorry?” “Yes, I am sorry. If I had only one cheek to ride a boat without money, I would have ridden it earlier.” Relaxation and guts were his capital. Ordinary people shrink when faced with hardship, but some people do not feel discouraged or feel hurt or humiliated when faced with a felony.
While caring for and comforting soldiers who were wounded during the war, a soldier said to the nursing officer, “I fought the enemy with these hands.” The nursing officer kissed his hand. Another soldier said, "I hit the enemy with my forehead." kissed me on the forehead. The third soldier said, “You lost, you bit it with your mouth.” Had he kissed his friend's lips? Was it a slight slap on the cheek? I wonder about that. Jung Ju-young hyung, the third soldier hyung, these people prosper.
“You will prosper” Who are you? Who will prosper?
He is a strong and courageous person.
You have to overcome your fears to thrive. You must be strong and courageous. “But be strong and extremely courageous” (verse 7). Boldness is having a strong heart and showing no light of agitation at all.
Everyone is anxious and afraid in front of difficult and difficult situations. Ten of the 12 men who went to spy out the land of Canaan said, “The people I saw there were of great stature…and saw the leaders of the descendants of Anak, and we even looked like grasshoppers in our own eyes” (Joshua 13:32-33). Hearing this, the people wept all night long, when Joshua reassured him, "...Do not be afraid of the people, for they are our food" (Joshua 14:9). Joshua and Caleb had strong and bold lion hearts.
The only reason we need a leader is to lead people and move forward without fear in the face of danger. What makes an ordinary person a leader is courage.
There is a story like this in Indian folklore. A certain magician was raising a mouse. One day the magician saw a rat sitting trembling. “Why are you trembling?” “Yes, I am afraid of cats. I think the cat will eat me.” The magician turned a mouse into a cat. At first he was confident, but after a while he was still trembling. “You made me a cat, so why are you scared?” “Yes, I’m afraid of dogs. I think the dog will bite me.” This time I turned it into a dog. Even though he is a dog, he is still trembling. When asked why he was trembling, he said, “I am afraid of tigers.” This time, I transformed it into the most ferocious tiger. Even when I became a tiger, I trembled. It looks like a gunner will come and kill him. Angry magician yea you ugly bastard! Become a road rat? I did. It's just a change of appearance. Even if you put tiger skin on a mouse heart, it won't turn into a tiger. The rat heart must be removed and a lion heart transplanted.
The Roman emperor Caesar was crossing the sea in a small boat when a gust of wind blew. People say, "This is the last time." I was trembling with great fear. Then Caesar solemnly said: “Catch the oars! As long as Caesar is on board, this boat has no worries! Row so that the boat does not lose its direction!” His voice, full of dignity and confidence, reassured people, and the ship arrived safely on land. Caesar was a leader with a lion's heart.
“The words of your mouth have entangled you, and the words of my mouth have taken you” (Proverbs 2:6). Words from a strong and courageous heart set a person free from the bondage of fear. “Strengthen your heart, be of great courage! (verse 6) ...but be strong and of great courage ... and you will prosper wherever you go” (verse 7). Be strong and courageous and prosper.
A person who meditates on the Word.
“Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, and observe all that is written in it, so that you may make your way prosperous” (verse 8).
The law is the word of God, and the word is the teaching of God, the will of God. Meditation is chewing the cud. It is to keep thinking about God's vision and God's thoughts. “Blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord, and meditates on it day and night.” I bear fruit like a tree by a stream (Psalm 1:2-3). Meditating gives us discernment and gives us a sense of who we are. Through meditation, I know whether I am good or evil, right or wrong. The more you meditate on the Word, the more you will be able to receive abundant nutrition and live a prosperous life. We gain insight and wisdom from the Word, courage and faith.
The Alababa region of the United States was originally a cotton field. Around 1895, weevil appeared and ruined the cotton crop. When the farmers were sighing and struggling, George Washington Carver, Ph.D., comforted the farmers and offered a new suggestion.
Cotton farming is no longer possible because of cotton worms, so now you have to grow crops that grow underground. I have a good idea. From now on, you can farm peanuts as I said. This place has the conditions for peanuts to thrive.
The farmers accepted the words of the Doctor of Agriculture and started farming peanuts. Twenty years after the peanuts were planted, the place became known as the “Peanut Capital.” Their income was higher than that of cotton, so they all prospered. It is said that President Jimmy Carter's family also built their success through peanut farming. A “Monument to the Worm” was built in that neighborhood. “We are grateful for the cotton weevil. Without the trials of that day, we would not be able to enjoy today's abundance. I thank you, cotton worms, for your suffering.”
Shouldn't there be a monument to Dr. Peanut rather than a monument to insects? It was because they accepted Dr. Peanut's proposal that they were able to overcome their failure and become more prosperous.
Meditate on God's Word and accept God's suggestions. The Word is the Word of Wisdom and Knowledge. Makes the fool wise. Since the Word is the Word of the Spirit, it transforms the mind of the flesh into the mind of the Spirit. The mind of the Spirit gives life and peace. It is said that the Bereas searched the Bible (Acts 17:11). Appeal means to investigate in detail in order to make a right decision. As they searched the Bible, they became a gentleman and a reputed church.
“Great peace are with those who love your law, and there will be no obstacle for them” (Psalm 119:165). Please meditate on the Word and prosper.
It is a person whom God helps.
In order for me to prosper, God must help me. When God is with us, we prosper.
As the American Civil War drew to a close, thousands of young people were dying. President Abraham Lincoln was suffering in deep anguish. The advisers comforted the president, saying, “Sir, don't worry. God is on our side.” Lincoln heard this and said, "That's what the enemy would think. What matters is whether we are really on the side of God.” It is more important for God to be on my side than to think that I am on God's side.
“...the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (verse 9). It is important that the LORD be my God. There are conditions under which God is with us. “Keep the law which Moses gave you, and do it, and do not turn aside either by sin or by the rain, so that you may prosper wherever you go” (verse 7).
You must set your heart on God and not be swayed by circumstances. “The Lord will keep in peace the one whose heart is steadfast, because he trusts in the Lord.” (Isaiah 26:3) Trust in God and enjoy peace to prosper.
“Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, and observe all that is written in it, so that you may prosper” (verse 8). It means to act according to the beliefs that come out of meditating on the Word and put them into practice. If you meditate on the Word, you will know what you really need to know.
“Jesus said to them, “Believe in God, truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, believing that what he says will come true, it will be done for him” (Mark 11:22-23). ) Those who believe in God have the power of words. God said to Moses that he would go with your mouth. “Go now, and I will be with your mouth, and I will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:12). He said, “Because God is with Moses, you will be like God to your brother” (verse 16). When God was with Moses, he was able to subdue the tough Pharaoh and lead the history of the Exodus.
When God is with us, we prosper. Joseph's prosperity also came from God's presence. “Because the Lord was with Joseph, he prospered... He was hated by his brothers and sold into slavery, but God was with him, and his master saw what God was doing with Joseph. (Genesis 39:2-3) ...Joseph was imprisoned, but the Lord was with him and increased his mercy to him, making him the prime minister of Egypt.
God is with those who believe. He is with those who pray. Two or three people join together in prayer in the name of the Lord. He is with those who follow the will of God. May God be with you and prosper.
Prosperous people use their limitations and shortcomings as the basis of their success. A person who can't do it can't get out of his complex. Prosperous people use obstacles as opportunities when difficulties arise. A good boatman uses wind and waves. It uses wind and waves as propulsion for ships rather than obstacles. A prosperous person is strong-minded and courageous. With a positive self-image, you see amazing possibilities and rewards. He is confident. I believe, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” We believe in our own talents, abilities, and values.
A prosperous person does not live on bread alone. I live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. E-Land's president Park Seong-soo became a prosperous person by drawing in God's wisdom through QT during Bible study time. Having God on my side is the way to success. The presence of God is the condition of prosperity. “You will prosper!” May you all be prosperous.
