Title: Youth Sermon/Deuteronomy 1:19-33

Content: Forgiveness of the wounds of the Father

Deuteronomy 1:19-33 (22-33)

Deuteronomy 10:15

The Israelites missed the first opportunity to enter the land of Canaan. And after wandering for 40 years, they stand here again to conquer Canaan. Then Moses explains the reason for the first failure of the conquest of Canaan.

The point is this: “We wandered in the wilderness forty years with your fathers. Not because Canaan was not a good place to live, but because your fathers gave up on their own. Why would you give up? Why did your fathers wander on their own for 40 years? The reason was because of the point of view of God. How did our fathers view God?”

1:27 “And they grumbled in the tent, saying, The LORD hates us, so he brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites to destroy us.”

Moses speaks clearly. 40 years ago, your fathers made a decision here now. I decided to wander.... I can't go into Canaan, I can't fight. It's good, but that's a dream.. It's just an ideal.. We can't live there.. We can't.

Why did the long wandering of faith begin?

Why did the long wandering of life begin?

“Your fathers who died in the wilderness... and ended their lives while wandering thought that God hated your fathers. I thought you weren't on your father's side."

Why is Moses bringing up the stories of his fathers 40 years ago here now?

Why do we talk about the mistakes of fathers and about God that fathers have not seen?

“God did not hate your fathers. Did he repeatedly emphasize “I love you”?

→ (31) As you suffered in the wilderness, just as a man embraces his own son, so the LORD your God took you by the way you walked and brought you to this place.”

1. What your father did 40 years ago is yours. (I refer to you as you, not my father). The point of “Father’s wandering is our wandering.”

Children say they can't stand watching their father wander. This is because God has given the Father to everyone as the first object of faith. “An omnipotent being, someone who listens to everything you say.” But the father wanders. Then, the children will not be able to find someone they can trust or depend on in this world, and will have no choice but to depend on them for the rest of their lives.

2. The point that the figure of the father becomes a picture of Heavenly Father

Memories of my father as a child dominate the rest of my life, and my thoughts about God. If a father was kind and loving, he would be remembered as a God of love, a God of forgiveness, and a kind God... If he was a scary and difficult father, he would be left as a fearful God, a God too far away to approach.

Knowing this, Moses brings up the events of 40 years ago. “Like your fathers, do not end your life as a wanderer, but conquer Canaan. Do not call your name wanderers (original Hebrew meaning), but now be conquerors, conquerors of life, conquerors of dreams, conquerors of the gospel, conquerors who build the kingdom of God go”.

Moses is trying to fix the image of the father and the image of God the Father to the children of Israel.

From a hateful Heavenly Father to a loving Heavenly Father

Why did their father wander? Why did Moses choose the road of wandering?

History goes back to the time when Moses was born.

What did the fathers of fathers see?

1. A father who saw his incompetent father

Their fathers grew up hearing the pain of their grandfathers. Grandpa woke up from his sleep... and suddenly he sighed.” “My little brother” and weeping. They were captives when Moses was born. And they watched their brothers die because they had many children because of their lack of strength. And I saw an incompetent father. A father who can't do anything when his younger brother dies.. And a mother who cries every night because of his younger brother, and a father who shouts "Now please, let's forget. Son...the little boy was their grandfather.

2. Fathers who saw fathers resenting God.

Slavery, hard work, and death of their son ... Fathers of fathers heard their fathers' lamentations over their lives, and when they had time, they looked at the sky and complained about the sky. They say that God hates them, “Fathers of fathers who grumble about why they are giving us such suffering.”

Perhaps that is why their grandfather and their father often resented each other while they were living in the wilderness. They were always complaining, never seeing thanks.

How can we break that long chain of curses?

How can I break the link between the long complaints, negative thoughts and words?

It is with Caleb and Joshua.

1. They understood the pain of fathers. And he believed in God's providence and did not complain until the end.

2. They learned a different level of faith from a spiritual father named Moses.

3. They were the first people to devote themselves to God's vision.
