Title: Youth Sermon/Get to Know Parents
Content Getting to know parents
Luke 15:11 24
Today is Father's Day. Could there be Mother's Day yesterday, Mother's Day today, and Mother's Day and Mother's Day in the next century? The next generation of children will have clones, test tube babies, and humans will be born from cow eggs or pig eggs. It is a terrible time to imagine a world in which men watch a cow giving birth and say, “Honey, cheer up!” or where children born to cows go to the barn to buy flowers on Mother's Day.
1. Parents - A name that loves me to the end. The text is the parable of the prodigal son. Although the prodigal son looks like the main character, the prodigal son is actually a supporting character. The main character is the father.
There is no logic or reason between parents and children. Even though they were the same brother, when the younger brother returned, the older brother harbored animosity. My brother is not a petty person. Rather, the older brother is a straight person. Therefore, the father's act of giving a feast to his younger brother who returned from exhaustion is not right. So, I approach my father as if asking why. It's logical.
However, there is no logic in the hearts of parents toward their children. When the son returns, logically, he is the prodigal son and returns with all his fortune. The logic is that you have to turn your back on what face you came back to. However, the father dances to welcome the return of his son and throws a feast. There is no such thing as a rational father or a logical father.
In 1984, Terry Wallace, a 20-year-old American young man at the time, was in a car accident in which his car fell under a bridge, leaving him in a complete coma for three months. After that, he sometimes showed ‘moving’, but it was at the level of blinking or moaning, and he was hospitalized at a rehabilitation center for 19 years. In the meantime, the efforts and hard work shown by parents, wife, and daughter (Amber), who was 6 weeks old at the time of the accident, to save the vegetative man was superhuman. The family took Terry, a 19-year vegan, home every weekend and invited her to participate in family events in a wheelchair.
Then, after 19 years, he regained consciousness and began to recognize his family. When he woke up, the president was still Ronald Reagan and the governor was Bill Clinton.
When Terry woke up from a 19-year coma, the first words she said were “Mom!”, neither wife nor daughter or any sentence. The mother fainted as soon as she heard the words "Mom!" from her son's mouth. Mom! Mother is a great name. It's great because of the illogicality of its name.
A parent's mind that is logical to something else but not only to a child - this is where the great mind comes from. That's why we miss our parents.
2. Parent - A name that is sacrificed for me.
Parents sacrifice for their children. The father lost his fortune and his honor because of his second son. Even so, when the children return, they spend more fortune. Father rejoices and rejoices. It is the heart of a father who can give not only property, but even life.
There is a movie called (Vertical Limit). (It is better if you show a scene from the movie.) The rope used for climbing has limitations. A father, who was hiking with his child, hangs on only the father's rope when one of his children's ropes break. The line cannot bear the weight of people.
The father at the bottom boils his rope to save his children. The children cry out that they should not cut the rope, but the father ends his life saying, “A man who climbs a mountain is happy to die on the mountain!” He saved his children by sacrificing himself.
So when we succeed, we think of our parents, and when we fail, we think of our parents. Because their name is Sacrifice. Because of him we are here. Irrational parental sacrifice - the name is great.
3. Parents - Recognizing that heart is filial piety. The second son did not understand his father's heart. So he left the house and became invalid. Later, in the harsh world, I knew my father's heart. And filial piety by returning home.
He came empty-handed. I must have shouted that I was successful, but I ate everything with nothing. How sweet is your son? Still, the father runs to see his son. Now the son knows the heart of his father.
A father's longing for his son, a father's longing to see his son's face, "Father, I'm sorry! Please take me back even as a laborer.” At those words, Father's heart rejoices as if he had won the world. So, a feast was held. Is there anyone whose resentment, anger, and disappointment melt away like snow at the words of their children? Even a single word from parents is great for their children, but the irony is that even a word from their children can be the best filial piety here is true filial piety.
Young people, I say to my mother today, “I’m sorry!” Say that one word! “Sorry!” to the father. Say that one word! It is the hearts of our parents, our fathers and mothers, where all the upset things disappear like snow with that one word.
Recognize Father's Heart - Brothers were the same, but the second son knew later. After leaving home and living away from my father, I realized how precious my father was. And he returned to his waiting father. The future of this son will be filial piety itself.
Who is the filial one? A son who understands the heart of his parents is a filial son and a filial daughter.
