Title: Zechariah's Four Tanks
The vision of the four chariots expresses the strength of God's will to act. The chariot is an essential tool for war. And it symbolizes a terrifying battle.
Introduction
I. Tanks are essential for war.
1. When the last war broke out in the Middle East, various new weapons were introduced, and among them, the latest battles of the United States showed a terrible power.
2. Zechariah's eighth vision is a vision of four tanks. Of course, tanks of that era were qualitatively different from tanks of today. It's probably the horse-drawn iron wagon-style weapon we see in the movies.
3. Zechariah had a vision of four horses coming out and pulling a chariot.
II. The four chariots represent God's servants.
1. Your chariot came out between two mountains. It refers to Mount Moriah and the Mount of Olives surrounding Jerusalem. There was a temple. The name of the mountain from which the four chariots came was called “Mount Nod.”
2. In those days the value of brass was as popular and necessary as gold today. Therefore, Mount Nod symbolizes God's love.
3. The number four symbolizes east, west, north, and south. God sent chariots in all directions. In other words, he sent them evenly to all places. Not only in a specific place, but wherever there is a sin against God, God's judgment will come.
4. What is interesting, however, is that the colors of the horses that pulled the four chariots were all the same. Red symbolizes blood. Blood is death, genocide. Black symbolizes sorrow, white symbolizes victory, and slurred words signify mixed judgment.
5. The four chariots were assigned a task. Their mission was "patrol". They are a kind of ministers sent to exercise God's wrath and mercy on God's behalf.
6. Two horses ran to the north. This symbolizes the judgment of Babylon. Babylon was more sinful than any other region. So the chariots of the black and white horses ran.
7. The spotted horse going south was tasked with judging Egypt. And the sturdy horse was given the task of judging wherever he could find, regardless of east, west, north, and south.
III. God's will was fulfilled.
1. Without sin, there is no judgment. Therefore, judgment follows sin. Sin is not following God's will, ignoring God's will.
2. It is a sin to fail to follow God's will even though it is clearly established. God has commanded us to carry all our heavy burdens. But many suffer alone carrying all the heavy burdens, which is a clear sin.
3. God has commanded us to “preach the gospel in season and out of season.” Therefore, of course, we must preach the gospel. But we are not, so we must know that this is also a sin that needs to be repented of.
4. When we sin before God, our thoughts do not reach the will of God.
Because. We cannot accomplish God's will by our own strength and strength. Therefore, only the filling of the Holy Spirit is the way for us to follow God's will.
5. God judges sinners thoroughly and searches for them everywhere. Verse 8 says that God has done all his judgments and has refreshed his heart in the north. Seeing the destruction of Babylon, which tormented God's people, God was relieved. However, it was not that he was pleased with the destruction of human beings.
6. People should not perish, but Satan must perish. The partnership with Satan must be terminated as soon as possible. It is the purging of sins.
7. We are beings cleansed by the blood of Christ. Our sins are cleansed away in the Lord. We are beings who have refreshed God by faith.
