Purpose-driven life (36) Created for a mission
Text: John 17:18/ As the Father sent me into the world, so I also sent them into the world.
The greatest grace among grace is the grace of realizing grace. “But it is by the grace of God that I am what I am, and his grace that was given to me was not in vain. I labored more than all the apostles, but it was not I, but the grace of God that was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). All were accepted by God's grace. In other words, it was not because I was prosperous or because I was capable, but because of the grace that God bestowed on me. No matter how much grace a person has received, if he does not realize it as grace, he has received that grace in vain. That's why he said, "As co-workers with God, we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain" (2 Corinthians 6:1).
We were created for a mission. God is still at work in this world and wants to work with us, and we call this task our mission. This mission is to carry out both the ministry of serving believers in the body of Christ and service to the unbelievers of the world, and this is the fifth purpose of our lives. The mission is derived from the Latin word 'send', and Christians are sent to the world on behalf of Jesus to become messengers of God's love and purpose.
1. The importance of our mission
1) Our mission is to continue the mission of Jesus on this earth.
Jesus not only calls us to come, but also tells us to go into the world. (Matthew 28:19-20) "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. We will be with you.” This great command is not an option, but a mission that must be done in God's family. As disciples of Jesus, we must continue what Jesus started.
2) Our mission is a great privilege.
Although we have a heavy responsibility, we have the great privilege of representing God as partners working together with God in building the kingdom of God.
3) Teaching the way to eternal life is the greatest thing you can do for a person.
If you hide information from a neighbor who has an incurable disease, even though you know the cure, you have committed a great crime. But worse than this, knowing the path to forgiveness, peace, and eternal life, is keeping it a secret. We know the best news in the world, and there is no greater kindness than making it known. (John 17:18) As the Father sent me into the world, so I also sent them into the world.
4) Our mission has eternal significance.
Our mission will influence the eternal destiny of others. Don't delay even a single day and reach out your hand right now. Time to reach them is limited, so we must constantly seek out people who can share the gospel around us.
5) Our mission is to give meaning to life.
The best way to use our lives is to spend them on things that will outlast our lives. The only thing that remains forever is the kingdom of God. So we must live a purpose-driven life, and the results of that dedication will remain with us forever.
6) God's timetable for the end is linked to the fulfillment of our mission.
The second coming of Jesus and the end of the world are postponed until everyone hears the gospel. If you wish for the return of Jesus, focus on fulfilling your mission.
2. The price you have to pay to fulfill your mission
1) To accomplish our mission, we must abandon our goals and accept God's plan.
We should pray, "Help me do what pleases God," rather than "Please help me do what I do."
2) If we commit ourselves to fulfilling our mission at any cost, we will experience God's blessing in a way that few people experience.
3. One More for Jesus
1) If we want to be used by God, we must be interested in what God cares about. God cares most about finding lost children. The cross proves it.
2) We should all live a life of holy effort to seek 'one more person for Jesus'.
DAY 36 / About the purpose of my life
Points to think about: I was built for a mission.
Memorable Words: Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you (Matthew 28:19-20).
Questions that leave life:
1. What are the fears that keep me from fulfilling my God-given mission?
2. What prevents me from sharing the gospel with others?
