Title [Acts 24:1-9] Paul Accused

Text: Acts 24:1 ~ 9

Title: Paul Accused

Paul arrived safely in Caesarea and was placed under the protection of the governor. Meanwhile, those who conspired to kill Paul knew that their plans were in vain, so they came to Caesarea to accuse Paul and harm him. This text is the accusation against Paul. I am trying to receive grace by examining this content.

1. The high priest Ananias, who was the chairman of the council, accused Paul.

2. The contents of the complaint submitted to the Governor-General are as follows.

①I expressed my gratitude to the governor. It's hypocrisy, my father. It was an act of sacrificing national pride. “Sir Felix, we are greatly grateful in every way and in every way that we enjoy peace through you and that the nations are improved in many ways because of your foresight” (3). From the point of view of the Jewish people, this was a statement that could be called racism. In fact, the atmosphere of Jewish society at that time was exclusive to Rome. For example, when the tax collector Matthew welcomed and invited Jesus, the Jews even criticized him. It means entering the house of a sinner. However, as a high priest, I can't tell you how sad it is to be making these kind of absurd remarks to the Roman governor.

3. The Jews agreed with this accusation.

The forces of injustice come together to create lies Agreeing to false accusations and joining forces is the same criminal act. We must distinguish right from wrong in everything, and we must say right is right and wrong is wrong. Of course, it should be based on objective things (the Word), not subjective judgments. Words are the only criterion for judgment. Paul faced such accusations, but he boldly responded with self-excuses. I hope that we will all take the lessons we studied today into our hearts and act wisely on the side of the truth.
