Title [Acts 27:1-26] Take it easy
Text: Acts 27:1~26
Title: Take it easy
The text shows that the road from Caesarea to Rome, the destination of Paul and his companions, was not smooth. If we look at the role Paul, who believed in God, played a role when they were in crisis, we would realize what our mission was. Now, I would like to receive grace through the text of the text.
1. If you put people's thoughts first and act in an artificial way, you can meet dangerous things.
Under the command of the centurion Julius, Paul and some other prisoners, Paul's close associates, and traders left Caesarea in a boat called Adramutteno. After stopping at Sidon, we depended on the coast of Cyprus, crossed the seas of Cilicia and Pamphylia, arrived at Murashi, changed to a ship called Alexandria, went through Nido, passed through Salmones, turned along the coast of Crete, and came to Mihang. Paul warned the centurion and others that it was dangerous to continue sailing, urging them to go through the winter. However, the captain and the shipowner insisted that they go to Phoenix and spend the winter because it was inconvenient to spend the winter. In the end, the centurion trusted the captain and the shipowner more than Paul and decided to set sail.
When they set out, they thought they had achieved their will because of the favorable wind, but soon after they encountered a storm called “Yuragulo”, they lost everything and their lives were not guaranteed. In verses 18-20, it is said that “even hope of salvation was gone.” People often put their experience or knowledge in the forefront, and they do it too much, and they end up at a loss. We must not forget that we are indifferent to the warnings and guidance of our spiritual leaders and that our actions lead to such unfortunate results. Please remember how dangerous it is for the saints to ignore the warnings of the Word and follow their own judgment according to the lusts of the flesh. I ask you to become saints who listen to the warnings, knowing that there will be days when you will lose everything and groan.
2. To those who were in despair, Paul comforted them based on the word of God
He didn't listen to me and set sail, and I didn't think it was a good thing or complain. He exercised spiritual leadership, reassured them and gave them hope.
The power of faith is demonstrated in such a desperate situation. Paul prayed to God all night during this difficult time and promised God safety for all the sailors along with his personal problems (23-24).
Paul believed in God. I believed that it would be just as God had promised (25). With that belief, he comforted the sailors by saying, “Be at peace.” It is a privilege to pray to God in times of difficulty. You can pray because you are a child of God. We should not be discouraged when we see our and our neighbors' difficulties, but we should pray to Almighty God.
We must listen to the voice of God while praying. We must listen to what He is saying and accept it with faith. To accept by faith is to be sure that it will be as it is said.
The confident person no longer worries or worries. Think positively and be happy. We need to go one step further and comfort and encourage our neighbors.
Like Paul, who said, “Therefore, be at ease, everyone, I believe in God that it will be just as he said to me.
Today we celebrate Thanksgiving and celebrate the Lord's Supper. I sincerely hope that we will all receive great blessings by participating in the Lord's Supper, giving thanks for God's love and grace, who saved us through the blood of the cross, who had no hope of salvation.
Also, I hope that God, who was standing next to Paul who was praying, is also standing by our side, so that we can all overcome difficulties by praying with faith and trust.
