Title Acts 04:13-22 Faithful Faith
Content Text / Acts 4:13-22
Title / Faithful Faith
Boldly in front of the Sanhedrin (4:15), Peter and John said, "Jesus rose from the dead, raised the lame, and is the only savior God sent to this earth to save the whole world." Not only did they testify, but seeing them with them, who had been healed in the name of Jesus, the members of the Sanhedrin said, “There was nothing against Peter and John” (verse 14). "Hard ( )" is a compound word of "opposite ( )" and "say ( )", emphasizing that Peter and John did not give the wicked a chance to attack. In other words, Peter and John completely silenced the attackers. How, then, can we be vigilant in the face of those who attack us like Peter and John?
I. Be humble (verse 13).
“Knowing that they were with Jesus” (verse 13): Did Peter and John make a mistake when they were with Jesus? Peter was a man of words. As a result, he was a man who made many mistakes (Matthew 26:33-35, 69-75). John was also a man with strong human greed (Matthew 20:20-21). They were really weak and flawed. But after Pentecost, with the help of the Holy Spirit, they were changed. They did not put their words and actions above prayer, the Holy Spirit, or the Word. They did not present themselves before God and claim them. He was humble. I relied on the Holy Spirit. And acted cautiously. What do we look like? Need a change? Be humble and pray for the part that will be changed. And do not put yourself before the Holy Spirit. This is the way to fill our gaps.
II. Listen to the word (verses 19-20).
“Judge whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God” (verse 19). Through the Word of God, the Holy Spirit perfects us and trains us to do every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So Peter and John listened to the word of God. God's Word gave us discernment (wisdom) for judging what was right and what was wrong. The Word of God is full of wisdom for life. "Blessed are those who have found wisdom and those who have attained understanding... Wisdom is more precious than pearls... Long life is in his right hand, and wealth and honor in his left hand. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who find it. Blessed is the one who has wisdom (Proverbs 3:13-18). A life that listens to God's Word is a blessed life, and a life that leaves no room for the evil ones to attack.
Ⅲ. Be courageous (verses 17, 21).
Peter and John were bold even when threatened by the wicked (v. 17). In the face of threats, the right will of many people is broken, weakened, and subdued. They often throw away the pride of the saints. But Peter and John had the Word of God to sustain them (verses 19-20). God's Word gives us courage in the face of any threat. We must put on the full armor of the Word of God, which even the fiery arrows of the wicked cannot penetrate. This makes us bold. It is a path that leaves no room for the wicked to attack. And it is the way to stand in glory before God
