▶ Text: Acts 4:13-22
▶ Title: Unstoppable Courage
Today's text is the story of Peter and John in the early church. They now stand before the Sanhedrin. At this very place, a few days ago, Jesus was tried. On the surface, it was said that Jesus was crucified under the guise of Pilate's court, but in fact, here in the Sanhedrin, it was decided that Jesus should be crucified first. Therefore, Peter knows well what this court is. So, just a few days before, when Jesus was being tried, Peter lights a fire in one corner of the court to see what will happen to Jesus. Then, when a woman says, "You are a Galilean," she says no. He denied, swore, and cursed. This is the so-called 'Three Middle Ladies' of Peter. It was really cowardly. It was just hours before I made an oath to die with Jesus, but that courage and will have completely shattered. As such, it is said that Peter felt heartbroken and agonized for the rest of his life, thinking about the time when he denied Jesus. During this miserable time, Peter suffered until the day he died. If you hear only the sound of chickens, it means that you have reminded yourself that maybe I was that cowardly. But is it only Peter?
You will have to think deeply. I know everyone has a moment like that. Peter stood there at this hour today. Now he stands proudly. stood as a courageous man. And shout out before the Sanhedrin. What has changed? It is the filling of the Holy Spirit. He was regenerated by the Holy Spirit, sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and became a person of witness through the Holy Spirit. As Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” Power translates to courage. Power does not mean that it kills enemies, nor does it mean that it takes away a country. “When you receive the Holy Spirit, you receive power.” Power is courage. On the contrary, the environment is worse than before. But Peter has courage. It is courage that no one can stop. Those who did not receive the Holy Spirit were puzzled. "It's strange. How did that cowardly person become such a courageous person?" - It can only be strange.
