Title Acts 08:26-40 Evangelizing Church
Contents
Main text: Acts 8:-26-40
Subject: Evangelizing Church!
1. Evangelism is the thing God is most pleased with.
1) A happy life can be built only when the purpose is clearly and correctly established.
If the purpose is not clear, the direction of the future becomes ambiguous, and we wander and waste our lives.
The purpose of life and the goal to achieve it must be clearly stated.
2) If the purpose and goal are not right, it often harms others.
A person who sets the purpose of life on being rich hurts many people to achieve it. Therefore, it is very important to assess whether it is right with a clear purpose.
3) Christian Confession: The first purpose of human life is to glorify God.
To please the God who created us is the clearest and right purpose of human life. Those who learn this properly will never fail in life.
4) So, we do not worry about what to eat, drink, or wear every day, but those who study how to please God are the happy people.
5) The thing that pleases God the most is that we preach the name of Christ.
Of course, God wants and delights in sharing this gospel to people so that his death is not in vain, and allowing them to be saved through the gospel, who gave his life for man.
2. Not evangelizing is a bigger problem than unsound evangelism methods.
1) What comes to mind when you think of Protestant evangelism?
Publishers shouting at the subway station and coercing and threatening to trust Jesus
Evangelists who go from house to house and cling to church recklessly to the point of being annoying.
Whenever I move into an apartment, the first thing that comes to my mind is evangelists who set up tents and advertise their churches with ramen, bean cakes, and coffee.
A few days ago, I saw a middle-aged man holding a large bible open in front of the central theater on Nammun Street and shouting to passersby, 'You must not live by bread alone, but by the word of God.'
→ Aggressive evangelism, combative one-sided evangelism that does not consider other people's positions, and exclusive and self-righteous evangelism methods that thoroughly ignore other people's thoughts and religions are big problems.
This is because it instills a negative image of Christianity in an age where images are judged.
2) However, going to church without the desire to evangelize even after decades of religious life would be a more serious symptom.
When we read a good book or movie, we see cases where people who can't resist because they want to talk or recommend something strangely keep their mouths shut when talking about Jesus.
When we let go of the illusion that we can evangelize only when we are perfect, our faith and confession as we are lacking is evangelism. The attitude of an evangelist who imposes too much pressure is also a problem, but it is even more problematic for those who have no desire to preach the Jesus that they risk their lives for, or who have never evangelized.
If you are a normal Christian, you must first have a desire to share the gospel with your loved ones.
3. Our church must become a church that evangelizes this year and is a church that is pleasing to God.
There is a lot of meaning in allowing such a good temple. It is to fill this temple with the people around you. If we can't do it all at once, each person should evangelize more than one person, so that our community should be 70 this year.
Let's try to do it once this year.
1) How should we evangelize?
Shall we all go to the train station tomorrow morning?
Will you go from house to house and fight to open the door?
Is there any way of evangelism that is right for us?
2) Today, Philip is succeeding in evangelizing Ethiopian eunuchs.
This was not just a eunuch, but a court official in power.
Philip successfully evangelized this man who went down to Jerusalem to worship.
Here, what must we learn in the way of evangelism today?
4. First, Philip first decided who to evangelize.
1) For evangelism, it is more efficient to set a clear target than to evangelize vaguely.
Not all success is achieved by selecting a target for evangelism, but it is more difficult to evangelize without a target.
2) In your annual plan, decide what you want to evangelize and find the target.
Now, whenever we meet him, we don't just meet him, we meet as an opportunity for evangelism.
Prioritize the people you are closest to, the ones you love the most, and the people you see most often.
3) Throughout the year, it should be important for the pastor to identify the target audience for evangelism and to pray together.
5. Second, do not think that I am evangelizing, it is the work of the Holy Spirit.
1) An angel of the Lord told Philip to go south, and he met him on the way, and the Holy Spirit directly spoke to Philip.
2) The beginning, progress, and fruit of evangelism are the work of the Holy Spirit.
We just have to do what the Holy Spirit tells us to do.
3) Therefore, do not study to persuade or evangelize through arguments in difficult terms.
Please pray to God for the target person and ask for the working of the Holy Spirit.
No matter how good you are at speaking, you are not good at evangelism.
You can become a powerful evangelist no matter how small you are.
Evangelism is not something I do, but something God works through the Holy Spirit.
6. Third, I must first approach the target actively.
1) Verse 29: Come near in this chariot.
Philip did not meet him by chance.
Once the target has been determined, the meeting should now be a meeting with a clear purpose, not a meeting for the sake of chance or friendship. You can never evangelize by sitting still.
2) The person you used to meet once a month should intentionally meet once a week.
If the evangelist does not actively participate, evangelism is impossible. It seems gentlemanly to say, 'We never force you to go to church', but it is irresponsible for your mission of evangelism.
7. Fourth, the beginning and end of evangelism is Jesus Christ.
Verse 35: They taught Jesus to preach the gospel.
1) Your philosophy or experience can be a tool for evangelism, but the beginning and the end are Jesus.
The church is not the content of the gospel. If you look at the church, it is actually difficult to evangelize. We are not a church, we are preaching Jesus Christ. The church is oriented toward Christ, but it cannot be perfect like the Lord. The gospel is the story of God's grace through salvation through Jesus Christ.
2) All science and truth in this world have no choice but to kneel in front of the name of Jesus Christ. If you try to evangelize through thought or personality clumsily, it almost always fails.
Just the Jesus I know, I believe, and I have experienced in my life - that very story has an amazing power to renew the dull soul.
8. I really hope that this year will be a church that we all evangelize.
Just imagine, the people we evangelized in this place.
Think about how God will be pleased through that worship service.
From now on, I hope that people around me will be selected for evangelism and pray fervently for them.
Please pray every time you think of him or meet him.
Go forward and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with him.
Our God will give us a wonderful experience of joy we never expected.
I hope that 2001 will be a precious year for Milal Church to be reborn as an evangelistic church
