Acts 9:10 18 Elected Vessels (Preparation for Converts) Theme: 11. Elected. 2006. 4. 23.
◎ Introduction
: The new convert cannot yet stand on his own, and when his needs are not met, he will fall again and
easy to return to the world. Therefore, the needs of new converts must be met on their own.
1. Help from a special believer (10-15)
2. Realizing that it is a vessel chosen by God (15~16)
3. Experience of helping and serving (17~18)
1. Discipleship: help from a special believer (10-15)
※ Who is Ananias? He is not an apostle or an ordained deacon. He was a general disciple (saint).
However, zealous and pious Ananias for evangelism was essential to the newly converted Saul.
(Compare Acts 22:12: “According to the law, Ananias was a godly man, praised by all the Jews who lived there.
who does”)
One). Ananias was sensitive to God's call. (Wake up)
※As he is a man of prayer, he recognized and obeyed the voice of God when he called.
(Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Tim 2:2, 1 Pet 5:5-6)
2). Ananias was willing to face a difficult task.
※ It is difficult to help new converts, and it is even more difficult when the degree of corruption is severe.
※ New converts always have a little bit of anxiety.
3). Ananias was willing to be an instrument in answering prayers.
※ Pay attention to how God convinces Ananias' heart to believe.
① God said that Paul was praying.
(Paul was a convert who wanted to see God and was broken, broken, and broken spiritually)
② God said that Paul had a clear vision that gave him assurance.
*Key point: Newly converted people pray for the help they need and receive answers through mature believers. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 20:35, Romans 15:1, Gal 6:2, 2 Timothy 2:2)
4). Ananias felt inadequate and insecure about herself.
※ He was aware of Saul's old life, which was a threat to believers. Yeah I was reluctant to help him.
that he is ineligible. Thus, I became completely dependent on God and taught me to depend more on the grace, suffering, and power that God gives me.
※ Those who are converted are inevitably faced with problems that require God's special grace to achieve good purposes. (John 3:27, 15:5, 2 Corinthians 3:5, Psalm 116:6)
5. Ananias was willing to obey God's commands.
① Obedience is believing, and faith is obedience (Heb 5:9, John 2:24, Acts 5:32, ...)
② Obedience is love, and love is obedience. (John 14:21, 1 John 2:5, ...)
③ ‘Obedience is better than sacrifice’ (1 Samuel 15:22)
2. The call to serve: Realizing that we are God's chosen vessels (15~16)
※ Saul had to realize the glorious truth. All converts are the same.
※ New converts must not be beaten, broken, thrown, unattended, i.e. neglected.
One). The believer is the one chosen by God to bear the name of the Lord.
① Believers must know that they must convey the name of the Lord through their heart, actions, and activities.
His body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
② A believer must testify to everyone regardless of his or her status whenever given an opportunity.
* Converts should know that the primary purpose of their existence in the world is to share the gospel with others. (Matthew 20:28, Luke 19:10, Acts 1:8, 4:20, 2 Corinthians 4:13, Titus 2:15, 1 Pet 3:15)
2). God has called those who believe to suffer for His name's sake.
※ Everyone who truly believes will be subjected to reproach and hardship from the people of the world. Christ warned.
We must teach this fact (Matthew 5:10-12, Phil 1:29, 2 Timothy 3:12,).
3. Serving: The experience of helping and serving (17~18)
※ A newly converted person needed to experience help and service from a disciple.
One). He needed a disciple's hand and help from a sincere heart.
※ He needed a visit from a faithful disciple who could come to him and help him in his life.
2). It was necessary to realize that we were brothers in the Lord.
※ It should be noted that Ananias called Saul his brother. “Brother” consciousness is required.
3). Saul needed the power to heal his sickness.
※ God healed Saul's eyes through the disciple he loved.
※ The scales falling off, whether covering Saul's eyes, were a sign of spiritual darkness, sin, and shame in Saul's heart.
It symbolizes that the scales have been removed.
4). It was necessary to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit (the power of the Holy Spirit).
(Galatians 5:22-23, 6:2, Ephesians 5:18, 3:17-19, 4:15, 2 Corinthians 9:10, 1 Pet 2:2, John 10:10)
Paul's Conversion - Filled with the Holy Spirit
※ When Saul fell on the road to Damascus, the Lord (the Holy Spirit) came into Saul's heart and life (baptism of the Holy Spirit).
※ Just as Saul had to be filled with the Holy Spirit in the future, he needed the filling of the Holy Spirit when Ananias visited him. Therefore, God filled Saul with the Holy Spirit.
This was the first of many powers to come upon him.
◎Conclusion:
