Title Acts of the Holy Spirit
Contents
Text: Acts 1:6-11
1) The book of Acts is the book of the Holy Spirit.
2) The book of Acts is the book of evangelism (mission).
Why did the Holy Spirit come? Are you here to make us better off? Did you come for the reconciliation of the world? no. The Holy Spirit came as the Comforter of Jesus to preach and defend Jesus. Jesus came as our Comforter, and the Holy Spirit came as our Comforter. Comforter means an advocate, a lawyer. In today's text, the word "witness" is expressed. Jesus came for us, and the Holy Spirit came for Jesus.
3) The book of Acts is the book of revival (church) Acts.
The book of Acts, written for 30 years, shows how the church expanded as a result of the evangelism and missions of the apostles who were used by the Holy Spirit. In Acts chapters 1-12, domestic missionary work by Peter is centered, and from chapters 13-28, the apostle Paul is centered on overseas missions. The revival of the early church was centered on Peter, and the history of revival is visible. The number of the gathered crowd was about one hundred and twenty (Acts 1:15)⇒ When they were baptized, the number of disciples increased to three thousand that day (Acts 2:41) ⇒ The number of disciples increased at that time ( Acts 6:1). ⇒ The number of disciples increased greatly (Acts 6:7), and a great crowd of priests also believed in Jesus. After Peter, Paul, who opened the field for overseas missions, paved the way for further church revival.
Therefore, the church must be revived.
Acts 2:47 says, “He added to the number of those who were being saved daily.
In this age, the devil says:
“How important is the number of faculty members, quality matters!”
no.
In 1 Timothy 2:4 it says, “God desires all people to come to salvation.” Evangelism is the will of God, the desire of Jesus, and the mission of the saints.
Dear brothers and sisters, the salvation of souls and the revival of the church are the commands of Jesus and the greatest command.
2 Timothy 4:2 “As for the appearing of Jesus Christ, I solemnly charge you to preach the word, and always be diligent, out of season and out of season.” There is only obedience to the command. Evangelism is missionnary work, literally “work.” work must be done. Dead people can't work. When a person lives, it is worthwhile to work.
Among the basic tasks that humans must do, ① breathing ② eating ③ defecating ④ sleeping are important. If you stop at one thing, you cannot live.
For the saints, evangelism is work.
Evangelism must be done just as we have to do work. The work is not easy, but what you must do is work hard because 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says, “If you do not want to work, do not eat” and John 15:17 says, “My Father is working, and I work.” Then there must be a reward for the work.
In today's text, the disciples ask Jesus a serious question.
Verse 6 says, “Are you going to restore the kingdom of Israel at this time?” In other words, it is asking for the liberation of the nation. But the Lord says otherwise.
Verse 8 says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes… You will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.”
This is another Comforter, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to be my advocate. In other words, to this world, ‘Defend me as the Son of God and the Savior of the world, who did not die for my sins, but died for you sinners.
Dear members of Shepherd Church,
Evangelism, salvation of souls, is more precious than liberty than liberation of the nation. The first priority for Christians is evangelism. When the door of evangelism is opened, all other doors are to be opened. Let's all confess
“God, open the door to evangelism. It is my lifelong wish.” Hallelujah!!!
